Le 1 mai 2010 à 17h, plusieurs personnes observent depuis un appartement la présence d'un point noir dans le ciel. D'abord stationnaire le point se déplace sans qu'aucun bruit ne soit entendu. Le point noir est filmé par un des témoins. Le témoignage fait nettement penser à un "plus léger que l'air" suivant plus ou moins le vent local (apparu à l'Ouest, disparu vers le Sud). A noter que le régime des vents ce jour là semble perturbé et complexe : vent de Nord à Lyon, pas de vent à Grenoble, vent d'Ouest à Genève. La direction précise du vent à Sallanches n'a pu être établie. Une association locale faisant des vols en montgolfière a été consultée : pas de vol à ce moment. Il peut s'agir d'un ballon à helium lancé, ou perdu, par un particulier, voire d'un dirigeable expérimental. Le GEIPAN n'a pas vu dans la vidéo de reflets verts sur l'objet. Ce cas, finalement peu étrange, est classé "B" : observation probable d'un ballon (ballon non identifié par le GEIPAN) [GEIPAN classification B — Ballon]
