Le 30 avril 2012 vers 21h30 un témoin observe dans le ciel le déplacement d'un point lumineux orangé suivi de trois autres points. Ceux-ci se déplacent sur une trajectoire continue montante avant de disparaître progressivement dans le ciel. Le témoin prend des vidéos. D’une étrangeté faible et de bonne consistance, grâce aux vidéos, malgré certaines imprécisions de directions somme toute courantes, ce cas d’observation a toutes les caractéristiques d’une méprise due à un groupe de lanternes thaïlandaises lâchées à l’occasion de festivités à la veille du 1er Mai. La direction du vent local ne pouvant être affirmée avec certitude malgré une tendance générale compatible avant l’orage autour du lieu d’observation, la vérification de la conformité du vent local avec le déplacement des objets est insuffisante. On note aussi que la pluie convient mal au lâcher de lanternes. Le GEIPAN n’a pas recherché les auteurs du lâcher. Devant ce constat, le GEIPAN classe ce cas en B, comme observation probable de lanternes thaïlandaises. [GEIPAN classification B — Lanterne thai]
