Le 24 octobre 2012 à 19h50 une automobiliste a son attention attirée par le passage rapide d'un phénomène lumineux dans le ciel. Le témoin décrit une lumière blanche brillante qui, sur une trajectoire descendante, disparait au bout de quelques secondes. Le témoin discerne ensuite une forme puis la lumière réapparait progressivement sur une trajectoire montante avant de disparaitre définitivement derrière la colline. Aucun bruit n'a été entendu. Un seul témoignage a été recueilli. En premier lieu, et pour tenter de répondre à l’une des questions posées par le témoin («Je souhaiterais savoir si d’autres personnes vous ont rapporté ce phénomène »), nous avons recherché s’il existait des rapports similaires à la date et à l’heure de l’observation dans la région de Grenoble. Sans succès malheureusement. Compte tenu des éléments objectifs recueillis dans le rapport d'enquête ci-joint, à savoir que les caractéristiques physiques et dynamiques du PAN cadrent mal avec celles d’un avion, d’un hélicoptère, d’un drone, ou d’un bolide, mais qu’un reflet dans le pare-brise pourrait avoir occasionné la même scène, nous ne pouvons pas conclure sur la nature du PAN observé, faute de recoupements, d’autres témoignages ou de photographies. Ce témoignage est d’une consistance moyenne : précis, mais bref (observation de 10 à 15s), venant d’un témoin unique circulant en voiture, et sans photo. L’observation est moyennement étrange car il s’agit d’un objet ayant un comportement et une apparence peu banals, mais pouvant être expliqué par des phénomènes conventionnels.
