It may have been an Earth satellite, but I can't imagine why they would put lights on satellites. It was a distant dim white light flying SE to NW, but was definitely not an airplane whereas I view airplanes frequently in the night sky and am familiar with their lights (most airplanes have white lights on the wings, a red and/or blue light in the front, and a strobe light with a very specific frequency). I do not think it was a comet because it was moving too fast across the field of vision, in line with the speed of most airplanes and it did not have a tail. It was not a firefly because it did not flash. It was not a star, also because it was moving too fast across the field of vision. I also can rule out the possibility of a meteor, because it was a dim whereas I have seen "shooting stars" and they generally are bright white and flash somewhat quickly across the sky. This light was much dimmer, but still quite visible and moving quite quick! ly AND I was so certain about what I was seeing that I immediately came inside to find out what time it was. It could have been a satellite, but it seems that satellites should remain stationary above the Earth's surface to serve their purpose for communication, so I would call it a UFO; very specifically an Unidentified Flying Object, because I could not identify it and because it was "flying," but I can not call it a "craft." Personally, I have looked for UFOs as sort of a "joke" to myself before because I have believed for some time that extraterrestrial life is quite possible (for 3 or 4 years in earnest). Since I have become unemployed, I walk frequently on a rural but what I consider to be safe dead end street. There are few obstructing lights, so I can often see the sky fairly well. Once or twice last year, I made a game of leaving Tic Tacs on the street "as a gift" so that I could return to see if they were still there. I am a strong believer in evolution and I was an Engineering major for a while during college and had Astronomy in college and retain the textbook for reference. Because I have a sense of evolution and evolutionary time, especially now that I am mostly absent from the alarm clock world, dinosaurs and ice ages seem to fit for me. I have read most of the Bible and interpret Genesis and the story of Creation to be not contrary to evolutionary findings, but rather a poetic message from peoples of the past that they had observed that humanity was the most intelligent form of life, and, therefore, LAST on the evolutionary timeline. As for God, I believe God is not to be argued about, but that does not mean that the writers of the Bible had considered other worlds - although I do know that the Torah mentions other worlds. Also, I am familiar with the local night sky and can identify Venus, Mars, the Moon phases, and several constellations and am able to connect their movements in the sky with the Earth's movement around the sun. Basically, unles! s this was a satellite, I think the movement was too regular to have been anything else, although it could have been an Earth aircraft with which I am unfamiliar although it appeared much higher and faster in comparison.

Fremont CA, CA

The light was going in and out traveling to my north. It was way too high to be a plane. It was way out of our atmosphere. It wasn't a flashing light..but more like a fire going in and out but for 30+ seconds. My gut tells me that I witness something not from here. And too slow to be a meteor. North Myrtle Beach, SC

we were on vacation in north myrtle beach on 74th ave the Sands resort. The first ones we saw looked like the lights on an helicopter top and bottom ones blinking they were red in color but no sound at all. There was a plane flying by but was low and did not look like what we were seeing. Then just vanished. The second one was orange in color very bright and was about 5 minutes after we saw the red lights. This one was in another direction it was only one dot lasting about 1 minute. The third one we saw was three orange lights stacked ontop of another then they separated as if they were in a stair step formation.these lasted about 2 minutes and then they were gone. These were all in about 10 minutes of each other. Then we didn't see anything for about 15 or 20 minutes and then saw three lights orange in color in a triangle formation these lasted about 1 minute and were gone. We thought these might be some kind of flares people were shooting up but no boats were in the area and no sound of any kind like airplanes or helicopters.Pretty cool to look at and kind of weird.

Quakertown, PA

Bright light was high in the sky. Going faster then a plane, but slower then a shooting star without any red light signals. Went across the sky and slowly dimmed and vanished. There was not a sound to be heard. My grandmother and I were sitting in the pool and were stunned. There was no possible way this object was a plane of any sort. The object had no shape; just a bright light. We spoke via telephone with this witness, and he sounded to us to be eloquent and serious-minded. We suspect that his report is a sincere one, and that it is accurate. PD

Mission Viejo, CA

From 10:30 to 11:00 p.m. on June 18th, 2014, my sister and I, along with many other by standers, saw two orange lights in the sky. We were in Mission Viejo, California. These lights were huge and would dim in and out. We noticed a white trail or attachment coming from the top of the lights. The two lights would both be lit for a little while until one would go out, like they were taking turns. This went on until 11:00 when they both went out.

Port St. Lucie, FL

Observed a turquoise (blue-green) light in the eastern sky at 9:30pm EDT while driving south on I-95 expressway. My wife, a licensed pharmacist, also observed the event. The light was not moving and was not definitely an aircraft or any other conventional artificial light. Last April we witnessed two similar events in the same general area and reported to NUFORC. I am a retired telecom engineer. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

Bright orange lights over Atlantic Ocean. At first it appeared as one craft, then separated into 6 different orange lights. They slowly appear then disappear. Seem to be traveling all up and down the Pleasure Island Coast. ((ADDENDUM #1 FROM SOURCE OF REPORT)) Hi, I accidentally gave consent to release my Information on your UFO website and couldn't uncheck the box before it continued the page. Could you please remove my information? Thanks ((END ADDENDUM)) ((ADDENDUM #2 FROM SOURCE)) Thank you! I was on my phone and accidentally clicked it. I wasn't sure if it was released or not, because as soon as I posted the report I received a weird phone call. Thank you again though! We were seeing some strange orange lights off the coast of Carolina Beach the past couple of nights and I was reading the similar reports, so I thought I would share mine! ((END ADDENDUM))

Garden City, SC

One orange light appeared for about 3 seconds approximately 20-30 degrees off the horizon and north a bit from our location on the deck of our beach rental near Marlin Quay Marina. The light appeared 3 times within 10 minutes while 5 of us looked on. We also saw very small aircraft like white strobe lights moving in the vicinity of the object. Very well could have been planes but the orange light itself - very unexplainable by 5 intelligent non believers. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

Ocean Island Beach, NC

Walking on the beach, my husband and I saw a bright orangish yellow light in the sky. There was one light that flashed twice like a lantern in the sky. It would brighten in the sky as it shone, kind of like a firefly or a halogen light. The light appeared in two segments where it flashed twice at first, then about 15 minutes later we saw the same light with another two flashes. Winnipeg (Canada), MB · Canada

Saw a succession of approximately 10 to 15, fairly evenly spaced, intense bright twinkling orange lights travelling at a steady rate (faster than any airplanes), silently from East to West across a cloudless sky. One strayed South/disappeared. No photo/video was taken. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

Conway, SC

Small light appeared with a flash in the night sky, dimming down to a normal brightness within the second it appeared. It moved around in an odd, curving or circular manner far off in the distance over the downtown historic Conway area. It seemed to dim and fade completely away at one point, but then brightened back to being visible. It was in an area where planes don't normally fly. There is an airport near where I work in Myrtle Beach, and I see huge low flying planes about to land there every day while driving so I know where they fly. They also fly in extremely low since they're about to land so they are extremely visible. But this craft was far off in the distance over the historic downtown Conway area most likely, and seemed very small but also bright for such a small craft.

Ukiah, CA

About midnight. Bright point of light (not blinking) just above hills to the west and at first presumed to be a helicopter due to often seeing helicopters at that low elevation coming from the west. Waited for it to continue on a horizontal path, seemingly towards the east or east/southeast, but that was not happening. This point of light was about five times the magnitude of brightest stars and appeared to be rising up. At first perhaps at a 45 degree angle. Then that changed and it clearly was going up straight, steady and not too fast but it was getting dimmer and dimmer and obviously ascending straight into the atmosphere. And, progressively dimmer and dimmer until it just disappeared. It didn't shoot straight up like a dart; it took about 15 to 20 seconds to disappear. The dot of light easily seen getting dimmer and dimmer, and then just not there anymore.

North Versailles, PA

My wife and I saw 6 moving objects (one at a time over a period of about an hour) which start out looking like a bright star, then fade to red and finally disappear. They do not have any strobe lights like planes do. They are moving faster than what you see planes moving but not as fast as a shooting star. Most were heading west to east, one north to south and one was traveling west to east but turned 90 degrees and went north. Saw in the area close to the tip of the spout of the “Big Dipper”.

I saw a tiny white dot come across the sky from low on the horizon as it were a plane or a star. It was silent and slowed to a stop a few degrees southeast of the field I was in and appeared to drift rapidly from side to side, speed up, and slow down moving rapidly in different directions at a very high altitude. It continued moving from east to west in an erratic manner far above the clouds with no jet trails or sound. The object would appear to stop and then dart rapidly as it were moving very fast but over a very small arc less than a tenth of a degree. It gradually seemed to drift south of me from east to west but approached the area I was in more rapidly slowing almost to a stop. It was partly cloudy and there were no stars in the sky. The sun had set half an hour before. It was around 9:45 PM. At one point it was moving so slowly I thought it might be moving in the opposite direction it came but there was definitely a subtle and rapid darting from side to side. I noticed nothing else in the sky that seemed to reflect or emit light at the time. The dot may have had a slightly yellowish tint. What was unusual was that it seemed to approach the field I was in very rapidly as though it were a plane traveling in one direction and once it were about three or four degrees southeast of me it stopped and drifted very slowly darting around erratically but subtly. I got tired of watching it as it moved slowly south and west from me continuing the erratic darting and slowing as it were not moving quickly enough across the sky for me to watch it go to the horizon. I could not identify the object. It could have been a satellite or space station or something not extraterrestrial, but what was unusual was that it had slowed and stopped a few degrees from where I was and darted around.

So I woke up and went outside to smoke a cigarette and there was this big huge yellow light in the sky northwest of me. I watched it for twenty minutes. It got bigger and then dimmer and at one time I sware it turned into a v. It moved up about two inches and stopped and then slowly went up. Then stopped. Then turned off. And I thought it was gone. Then bam it slowly came back on. It looks like it's looking for something. I sware at one point it shined its lights in my direction and it just seemed like headlights in the sky looking at me. Then turned away. It was really really bright. And wasn't a plane because it didn't move and when it did move it moved really fast in the sky. And planes don't turn their lights off. This is weird. I watch the skies all the time. My dad is a pilot so I always just watch the skies. I've never seen this. This was different. This was like a tiny sun. That could move faster than fast turn off and then vear up. We are uncertain as to whether this is a serious report. PD

Chicago, IL

What appeared to be a star (eastern sky/on very clear night) began to move incredibly fast, traveling south. Ufo had consecutive bursts of white light, one second apart, and traveled in a straight line and then disappeared. Object was so far that no shape or detail of the body was visible except for the extremely bright bursts of light. Half a second after vanishing a bright burst of light appeared a fairly large distance away and beneath UFO. The object may have jumped that entire distance within the time it took to flash another time. (possible connection between the two objects or two completely different objects within fairly same distance and emiting same light in both color and intensity). Very bright, steady light appeared to be somewhat high. Moving east to west then did an abrupt 90 degree turn south, then proceeded to move in a kind of soft edged square pattern for maybe 1 minute, before just disappearing.

It then raised up and proceeded towards me. Within 1 minute it was 200 ft in front of me. Small inner circle of light with a larger circle around that. This was not an airplane or helicopter.

My friend and I were riding our bikes around town at night. We were stopped at a grassy area when we noticed a yellow light in the sky. The yellow light was stationary at first, then it rapidly shot all the way across the sky, much faster than an airplane or satellite. At location the yellow light shot to, we noticed a green light, again not moving. Shortly after, like the yellow light, it rapidly shot across the sky out of sight.

I was observing the sky for a few minutes and noticed several aircraft going in different directions. I spotted (and heard) a propeller driven and also several jet aircraft. As they progressed across the sky I could hear them as well. They were at varying altitudes as observed. All these aircraft had typical blinking lights as commonly seen on commercial aircraft. I spotted, then heard, a jet coming south, and it passed my location slightly to the east. I could hear its engine sound and I estimate its altitude at approximately 5000 feet. Then I spotted another light object trailing behind the jet by several seconds and going in the same general direction. It was a very steady non-blinking white light and seemed to be at a much higher altitude. It was unusual. The light was bright but not glaringly so. No sound came from this object as it passed which added to the impression it was at very high altitude. It proceeded across the sky in about the same time fram! e as the previous jet. So I estimate its speed to be much faster than the jet in order for it to cover the same distance in the sky in that short amount of time. Then it quickly faded out. The visual impression is that it just ascended out of the atmosphere. I have observed objects before in the sky that I could not identify. I reported one here several years ago, and one to MUFON. I received a follow-up inquiry. In that case, I made further observations of the area of the sky where I'd seen the later object for many days, to be fair and thorough and possibly see an explainable repeat of the sighting. After my followup observations I determined I could have seen explainable, if even unlikely, naturally occurring phenomena, and I explained that in detail in my followup answers. That is how I answered the follow-up inquiry. I keep a healthy skepticism. I do not go looking for unexplained sightings, I simply occasionally sit and relax and look at the night sky. I am always ready to accept the most likely reasonable explanation. I think that what sightings are most likely to be, they probably are, and have no illusions or belief agenda to see them to be labeled as “extraterrestrial.” I will not report a sighting unless I can't understand what it is. Only then I think it is my obligation to file a report that might be corroborated or possibly support another's sighting of the same object.
