Le samedi 2 juillet 2011 vers 22h30 deux personnes observent le passage silencieux d'un objet sphérique orangé volant en trajectoire descendante dans le ciel. Des flammes sont aperçues à la base de l'objet. La sphère disparaîtra rapidement en montant dans le ciel. La description faite par le témoin correspond à celle d'une lanterne thaïlandaise, son déplacement est cohérent avec le vent de ce jour là (vent de Nord). On peut penser que cette lanterne a été lâchée à la fin de la fête médiévale qui s'est déroulée ce jour là à Bergues, mais le Geipan n'a pas réussi à joindre l'organisateur de la fête pour confirmer cette hypothèse. Ce cas est classé B : probable lanterne thaïlandaise. Un nouveau témoin a contacté le GEIPAN en décembre 2012 pour confirmer qu'il s'agit d'une lanterne (voir courrier et photo IMG 5081) et permet de reclasser ce cas en "A". Le 20 juin 2011à 23h dans un champ, deux personnes observent au-dessus d'eux le passage silencieux d'une boule lumineuse jaune orange. Après avoir effectué un virage au-dessus de la cime des arbres, une forme triangulaire leur apparaît. Très effrayés, ils quittent l'endroit mais un des témoin aura filmé l'observation. Les témoins ont probablement observé le passage d'un aéronef car au vu de la video, l'objet est conforme à l'aspect d'un avion, avec son éclairage nocturne réglementaire, phares de piste allumés. Il n'a pas été mené d'enquête pour identifier quel avion survolait ce site. [GEIPAN classification B — Avion]
