Edgewater, MD

Object moved at steady, linear pace, traveling horizontally across sky northward towards Annapolis Harbor Center. There was no audible sound from object. I was not able to view the object in my cell phone to capture a photo.

These lights stood over my house for a good 15 seconds then they simply vanished. In my sighting I saw a tiny yellow ball then following it was a medium redish, orangey bright light riding next to the same exact object.. Then there was a big reddish orangey ball of light at the end with a tiny yellowish ball at the end of the whole thing.

My husband and I went to our backyard to watch fireworks. To the north of us there was someone setting off a lot of fireworks. I saw these two red lights that I assumed were a plane. They would flash green for a few seconds then back to red. The only thing that made me think it was not a plane was that it stood still. I asked my husband if he saw it. He assumed as well it was a plane because it started to move, but then stopped and hovered. Once the object started moving the lights stopped flashing to green and stayed a constant red. We stood there and watched it for 10 min just hovering in the sky. I realize this could have been a helicopter, it moved and hovered like one, but the lights didn't flash. They stayed a consistent red. After ten min it moved to the east and out of site.

Was watching what I thought was a satellite, but shortly after I noticed it, it flashed a very bright flash (very eye catching if looking even slightly up). I called three other adults on the patio to watch. We watched it slowly cross above and it flashed a very bright flash again. It did this only twice and began to fade away into the big dipper (south to north). Suddenly, there was another trailing behind it. Again it looked like a satellite on a straight course. While watching this one it suddenly JUMPED ahead and caught up with the other one covering a vast space in the blink of an eye. Then there was a third, then a fourth, then a fifth, then a sixth, in succession, spread out with many miles beteween them and all traveling south to north in the same line. At times they stopped and displayed a bright "light" ray coming out of them in a search-like mode. The light moved around. It didn't just flash once.

I saw a bright red light which apeared to be a low altitude plane. Through my window the solid reddish orange light seemed to have a 5 pointed star shape. The craft traveled a steady speed. There were no blinking lights, just a solid color. It wasn't a normal light so I watched it travel from the NW to the SE but as it approached the SE horizon the lights turned off and the craft went dark. I then witnessed three other identical crafts traveling the same speed and flight path aprox 20 second to 40 seconds apart. As one would come close to the SE horizon and go dark the next would appear in the NW horizon. It was difficult to judge altitude, but I would say they were traveling higher than typical helicopters but much lower than commercial jets. We are close to a small airport where single prop planes are constantly in the sky and we are also in the flight path of a regular helicopter. These was no noise to suggest either of these types of crafts. Along with the lack of noise, the coloration, speed, flight path, and number of craft ruled out these possibilities.

Mutable aircraft flying in somewhat of a formation radiating a orange glow. No beacon lights nor any white lights at all was noted. The craft seem to fly a circular pattern for about 15-20 minutes each time as they speed away from my house the craft disappeared totally. At times, there were some that appeared to stop and erratically move, and other times look to be normal for a aircraft. There were no noise at all all the time they were in site.

A few minutes later we saw a second one but it just disappeared when we were watching it in the middle of yhe in sky. Finally we saw a green one that was going up and down and would hover for a few moments the it went forward and then backwards to where in we'd hovering. It also turned red and would flash red and green. We were unable to see the shape or anything. We just saw the colors in the sky.

Ashland, KY

Observed a bright orange light, appearing to be at height of normal airlines operation, probably in the 15-30,000 feet range, but difficult to be sure. It was traveling in a straight line, eastward, for about 3 minutes starting from where I first saw it to the West, until disappearing in the East, but not as far as the horizon. It was flame-like, much brighter than any aircraft lighting, steady, non-flashing, and no white, red, or green lights seen. This was unlike anything I've seen in 50 years of studying the skies, both as one having a keen interest in astronomy, and in the 2300 hrs of flying US C-141 transport planes all over the world. I was wondering at the time if it was an aircraft on fire, but if so, it would have crashed, but there have been no reports of anything like that.

I jokingly said that perhaps it was North Korean/Chinese/USSR airplanes; a scouting party... to prepare for an invasion. He came up with something a little more realistic, perhaps they were memorial balloons, adrift in the night sky, honoring veterans or otherwise on Independence Day. Regardless, they appeared alien. We see airplanes in the sky at night, most a lot higher than others. However, you know they're US planes with their red/blue lights... these were wholly different and there was a few of them. Worthy of alarm, at least in my opinion. I'm near-sighted, so, needless to say I couldn't see them as well as my brother, but, they were assuredly lit up and in red/gold or yellow-orange.

Delray Beach, FL

I live in the vicinity of Miitary Trail/Atlantic in Delray Beach. I looked up because fireworks going on all around me and notice three circles in the sky high enough not to be fireworks. Each circle had lights and it was rotating in a circular motion or either the lights gave that illusion. The three circles were in a "V" or triangular formation. They hovered over my street for about 2-3 minutes then started to slowly move east. The lead object started to move behind cloud coverage with the back two slowly following. Once they were behind the clouds I could not see anymore. At first I thought they were some kind of firework, but they were not, unless fireworks go up and never come down and move slowly to the east in a V formation.

Golden, CO

My friends and I walked to the top of Ancient Palms trail in Golden to see the fireworks shows of the surrounding areas. At around 9PM the closest fireworks display in Golden began and most of us were turned in that direction watching. About 10 minutes later my friend tapped me on the shoulder and pointed in the opposite direction of the fireworks (east) and said "What is that?" I turned and looked where he was pointing and saw 3 lights hovering in the sky. They were completely stationary for about 15 seconds. Then a fourth light appeared and they started moving slowly left to right in a perfect line. At this point my 4 friends and I were all watching and making a bit of a scene pointing and yelling in confusion and at least 10 other people had turned around and were looking too. There were at least 30 people on top of the trail we were on, I can't say for sure how many people witnessed this object but there were several. The 4 lights appeared to be absorbed into one, and then would re appear as 4. Then, all 4 disappeared suddenly, reappeared for a few moments, moved upwards slowly, and then disappeared again. This all happened in less than 2 minutes. I heard one man ask one of the park rangers who were there if he saw the object and what he thought it was. The trail ranger said hesitantly "It was probably parachuters", which made no logical sense. No one had any other suggestions of what it was and everyone appeared to have the same uneasy feeling. These were not fireworks or like anything I have ever seen in my life. I feel confident reporting this as there were several witnesses and no explanation for these lights.

Englewood, CO

After watching fireworks at cherry hills country club in englewood, co, I noticed my car alarm going off. Upon returning from disarming it, I noticed 4 bright lights flying in irregular patterns, almost fluttering like a flag in the wind. I was facing east from the hole closest to where Oxford lane becomes restricted. By no means am I a professional but I have never seen anything like it before. They disappeared below trees out of our view but lasted long enough for me to run to car, get mom, and show her. We're orangish in color, like a street light.

Tucson, AZ

On July 4, 2014, at approximately 8:55 pm my husband, two friends and myself were waiting for the fireworks to begin. We were looking at the sky when we saw a solid blue light moving at a very high rate of speed and noticed another following very close directly behind it. There was no change in speed or trajectory. The craft had no navigation lights or anti-collision lights as required on commercial, private, or military aircraft. Altitude, shape and size were not able to be determined. They were moving from South to North, on the East side of Sombrero Peak. They flew directly over our house and made no sound what so ever. There were no other air craft in the area. We lost all internet WIFI connection for approximately an hour afterwards. My husband and his friend have at least 40 years of aircraft experience between them and neither had ever seen anything like this.

Denham Springs, LA

It was about 8:30 pm, my mom and I were outside on the back patio. I noticed a red light moving overhead to the west of us and pointed it out to her, asking what she though it could be. On the underside of the object was a red light that was steady and did not pulsate. It moved about the same speed as the planes we see flying by, landing at the airport in Baton Rouge. I walked out into the yard to get a closer look, and two more bright red lights came on, one after the other, making a total of three lights in a small cluster. The object appeared to be approaching us, ascending quickly and moving toward the trees where I was standing. Then, as it reached the treeline, the lights shut off. Because it was dusk, I could not see the shape of the object. During the time of the object's ascent, what appeared to be a commercial liner was flying unusually low and to the west of the object, not on a course that I usually observe such planes taking.

Tempe, AZ

I was laying on my back in the Tempe beach park waiting for the fireworks show and looking at stars and planes flying over head. The sky was relatively clear with scattered clouds but clear near the event I witnessed. I noticed a blinking star in a fixed point almost directly above me. It reminded me of the size of a satellite traveling. The object however, did not move. It blinked for a few seconds and went dark. I watched around the area expecting to see it blink again in a different place as when a plane is visible or again, a satellite. After a second or two, it began blinking again in the same spot. It blinked for less time than when I first noticed it, then it was gone for good. I have been a sky watcher for almost forty years and can confidently say it was too high up to have been a helicopter.

Healdsburg, CA

It was around 8pm. My wife and I were driving north on HWY 101 up to Geyserville, CA, from Santa Rosa, CA. After passing Healdsburg, CA. We pulled onto Alexander Valley RD. We were going to a casino. On the way up we had noticed very strange looking Sunset? I took a movie with my phone. A Very bright area in the movie. Then we noticed a bright blue line? If you look at the movie you can see it on the upper left. This Line was similar to a jet stream but it did not dissipate? It was solid from where we were. You could look back behind us and could see that it extended clear back towards Santa Rosa. That’s over 28 miles. We had reached the casino and we could no longer see it after dark. It was not a jet stream, it was bright blue. We asked others at the casino it they had seen it. Even the guards. But no one had. But it was there because we did film it although I was lighter in the film.

It was late and we were sitting on the back porch before going to bed. I noticed three separate illuminations and first mentioned to my Father that someone had launched three Chinese lanterns. I did not think much of it, until I noticed that the lights were not changing in altitude or velocity, but remained still. We then began watching closer. The lights were orange and appeared to be separated at equal distance, away from our location. The lights were far away and we could not make any other observations about the source. The lights appeared to be moving together away from our location and eventually were not visible. It was strange to me that the lights never increased in elevation, but remained in a consistent formation as it slowly moved to the east away from Miami.

Milford, NH

Traveling North on Osgood coming up on Milford Middle school observed a bright orange light traveling slowly East. Size, shape and color made caught my eye and at first thought it might be a meteor but appeared to be traveling too slow. It met up with a second light, it looked as if the lights met and then backed away from each other. They were then floating, horizontally from each other until minutes later the clouds from the storm covered them and I couldn't see them anymore. No sound

Bryan, TX

On July 3, 2014 at about 4:45 am, I let my dog out in the backyard and about 3 minutes later he started barking as if there was an intruder. I waited for an estimated 2.5 minutes after the barking started before I opened the door to see a very bright white light that was possibly 2-4 feet in dimensions but could not ascertain whether if was circular, rectangular, or some other geometric shape because of its movement speed. This object could have been elongated (longer than wide giving off a trailing light impression). Because of its brightness, it was lighting about ¼ of our large back yard. Upon my seeing the UFO, it continued to move very fast in random directions around the backyard at a estimated height of 5 to 6 feet. While I viewed the UFO, it appeared to stay about the same height above the ground as it darted about while staying in the backyard area. It took me about 15 seconds to realize what I was seeing after I opened the door to see my dog! barking and jumping at the fast moving UFO which was a single light source. I then called my dog’s name and he ran through the open door back into the house and I closed the door. I then turned off one of the patio lights (leaving another on) by quickly walking to the patio light switch (possibly 20 ft. away) and then immediately looked through our backyard glass French door and the UFO was no longer visible. So, although I viewed the moving UFO for about possibly 30 seconds, I believe the UFO was in the backyard for about 3 minutes, because of the estimated duration of my dog barking.

New Orleans, LA

A friend and I saw a white light in the sky directly overhead as I was leaving her house tonight, around 2:40AM in New Orleans, La, June 29, 2014. It appeared to be holding a position for 5-10 minutes just above a cloud layer that obscured most of the stars, and could not have been more than a few miles above the ground. The object appeared to be roughly the size of a house (but I’m normally not a great judge of size at such a distance). I can say for sure, though, that it was either extremely large, or very close, as in, incomparably larger than the perceived size of a star at my distance. I should also make clear that we never saw its contours--we only saw the light coming through the dark cloud layer that created the almost starless night, tonight. It quickly faded to full brightness and back to darkness (as opposed to blinking) periodically, every 5 seconds, the entire time it was in-sight. I sent my friend to retrieve her point and shoot camera, hoping it would have better light sensitivity than my iPhone 5S, but as soon as she returned, the light disappeared. We stared for another 2-3 minutes and it did not return. Before finally leaving, I walked back inside to attempt to see if anyone had spoken with the New Orleans Police Department, but no one answered their non-emergency line. After about 20 minutes of that and speaking with my friend about the occurrence, I stepped back outside to leave. The light was back. This time, it appeared just to the right of the same pair of stars it had appeared near earlier. I ran back inside to grab my friend and we watched it pulsate for another several minutes, attempting to video tape, but the light was too faint for the camera. This time, the light appeared to be moving away and then towards us. I thought I saw a flash or two from possible neighboring objects, but it was so faint that I can’t tell for sure. My friend als! o claimed that the light was faintly tinted blue, and I may have caught that once or twice, as well, but once again, I can’t tell for sure. After a good bit of thought, the following are the points that stand out to me: 1. I have only ever seen a combination of red and white lights coming from man-operated aircraft. The fact that this light was purely white is interesting to me. 2. The regularity of the pulsating of the light (5 seconds between ON states. For whatever reason, this made me lean towards “man-made.” But, who knows?) 3. The size and proximity. My friend suggested that it could be a satellite, but I don’t think it could be so close or so big. I will research the likelihood of this as soon as I’m done filing this report. 4. The fact that the object “disappeared” and “returned.” I believe it’s possible that there were multiple thin layers of obscuring clouds, and that enough finally came between us and the object that it was finally obscured completely. Thinking in these terms, its return was simply those clouds continuing past the object. From this, one may conclude that it disappeared and reappeared, or that it never left. From this, one might also infer that it was moving slowy the whole time and was not exactly static as implied in the first paragraph of this report. 5. UPDATE: 4:38AM, CURRENT TIME: Said friend just called and said someone walked into her back door (that she negligently left unlocked). She believes she say a T-shirt, so we’ll assume he was human. This most likely has no connection to the white light, but I thought I’d mention it. 6. Apparently, the International Space Station has just passed over us, but that was the evening before this one, Friday June 27 2014 at 8:41PM: http://spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightings/view.cfm?country=United_States&region=Louisiana&city=New_Orleans#.U6_1aY1dVH0 a. Also, the ISS is described as having a constant white light, and specifically not a flashing light, from the two articles I’ve read on it. That is all! Decide for yourself!

I believe that I saw a meteor crossing through the sky tonight. The object in the sky had a fireball appearance with a tail that looked like a Fourth of July sparkler! It was completely amazing! I am still in shock! The object flying across the sky was only in my view for approximately 10 seconds but it was truly amazing!
