Le 22 mai 2010 à 13h54 une personne prend des photos d'un enfant. Il constate à postériori sur une des photographie, la présence d'un objet étrange non remarqué lors de la prise de vue. Le témoin a effectué une démarche de procés verbal en gendarmerie, PV reçu tardivement au Geipan. La pré enquête de gendarmerie et les investigations effectuées sur la circulation aérienne et sur le voisinage ne permet pas de conclure sur la nature de l'objet que seul le témoin a photographié. Finalement, une analyse de la photographie envoyée par le témoin a convaincu le Geipan qu'il s'agit d'un insecte très proche de l'objectif, ce qui est compatible avec la vitesse d'obturation et la mise au point sur le sujet le plus proche (l'enfant à la moto). Pour être aussi flou dans les conditions de prise de vue, l'objet devait se trouver à une distance inférieure à l'hyperfocale, donc bien inférieure à 1 m. Or, compte tenu des caractéristiques de l'appareil et des réglages, on vérifie que si l'objet mesurait 1 cm, il devait se trouver à 13 cm de l'objectif, ce qui est cohérent comme ordre de grandeur avec un insecte ailé. L'éclairage de cet "engin insectiforme" est par ailleurs cohérent avec l'éclairage du soleil. Ce cas rentre dans la catégorie des observations faites sur l'un des nombreux supports (photo ou film) qui parviennent au GEIPAN : sans correspondre à une observation visuelle directe lors de la prise de vue, l'observation est faite lors de la visualisation à postériori sur un écran d'ordinateur. Le cas est classé B comme la prise de vue probable d'un insecte se trouvant très proche de l'appareil photo. [GEIPAN classification B — Insecte]
