Le 4 juillet 2012 à 7h20 un automobiliste circulant sur l'A75 à la hauteur de la commune d'Authezat (63) est intrigué par la présence dans le ciel d'un objet de couleur sombre et de forme ronde à ovale. Il est immobile en direction du Sancy. Six minutes plus tard circulant sur la D2013 entre Saint-Amand-Tallende et Aydat à hauteur de Saint-Saturnin, l'automobiliste voit de nouveau l'objet et constate 5 autres formes qui se déplacent à vitesse réduite et à basse altitude. Le témoin pense à des avions de chasse. Prenant la direction de Chadrat l'automobiliste perd de vue les divers éléments. L'observation a duré 8 minutes. Aucun autre témoignage ne sera recueilli. Ce témoignage est d'une consistance moyenne car peu précis, venant d’un témoin unique et sans photo. L’observation est peu étrange car il pourrait s’agir d’un objet tout à fait banal. Les hypothèses retenues (voir rapport ci-joint) sont celles un aérostat, d'un ballon captif ou encore d'un engin de vol libre (ULM, parapente...). Cependant compte tenu des éléments recueillis dans l'enquête, à savoir : - l'analyse de trois hypothèses convenant mal à l’observation - l'absence d'informations (mesures angulaires) ne permettant pas de mieux vérifier les estimations de la taille, de la distance et de l'altitude du PAN ce cas est classé C par manque d'informations.
