September 20, 2014 · 8:00 PM · FIREBALL

Phoenix, AZ

Started with a single fireball flying horizontally (thought it was a plane on fire). Primary fireball dropped what appeared to be a white orb much smaller than initial, then another two. Orbs dropped away from primary, then became fireballs. Fireballs flew in patterns, one did a loop-d-loop. One of the secondary orbs dropped a new white orb, which after ~2 seconds of dropping became a fireball. Primary fireball extinguished, became a blinking blue/red light flying horizontally left, then right over other fireballs. All fireballs eventually descended below treeline.

September 20, 2014 · 7:38 PM · FIREBALL

Gilbert, AZ

While driving east on the 202 near Val Vista rd Exit we saw 2 red balls floating down from the Sky like feathers that broke off into 4 balls. They had a random pattern. They would blink on and off and vary in brightness. At times the ball was white/blue with a red flaming tail. Then they disappeared. They did not streak down like a meteor but again floated down bouncing like feathers.

Chandler, AZ

On 9/20/14 at approximately 7:20pm my husband, 2 kids and myself were driving back from Casa Grande, AZ, and my husband and I saw the following: We were driving north on Gilbert Rd. just past Ocitillo Rd. in Chandler, AZ when I saw two red/orange balls in the northeast sky quite a distance from us. They were sitting at a diagonal from each other but too close together to be airplanes. I pointed them out to my husband who commented that they may be an antenna tower. I commented that it must be one crocked antenna because of the diagonal line they made instead of vertical. I dismissed them until 20 minutes later when we were on the 202 E just before the Val Vista Rd. exit. I looked up at them and they were white now and, to my eye, looked to be about the size of the old large satellite dishes until they broke up into four separate balls about the size of basketballs. I guesstimated them to be around 3-4 miles northeast from us and approximately 500 feet from the ground. We pulled off to the side of the highway and watched them as they seemed to be floating down from the sky in a diamond shaped pattern. As they were doing this each ball of light intermittently changed in brightness going between glowing bright with red flaming tails (like a comet) to dim white balls of light to barely visible. They floated down slowly like a feather. Each time one flared up the others did not. Also as they were coming down individually they were slowly changing direction in circular motions. They eventually fell out of our line of sight behind buildings. They were moving to slowly with weird directional changes to be a meteor or something else falling from the sky.

Gilbert, AZ

Four lights in the sky over Gilbert, AZ. Trails like comets, but with a sparkly appearance, going all sorts of directions (up, down, left, right, loops, all over the place). Fading out to a tiny blue light, then flaring back to previous brightness. Going gradually lower, until out of sight behind buildings and trees.

Two red fireball objects rose from beyond the tree line approximately 1 half to 1 mile away from vantage point. Large and a red in color sphere shaped hovered together silently for 30 seconds to 40 seconds, and then one moved north and one in a northwest direction until disappearing from sight.

September 19, 2014 · 8:00 PM · FIREBALL

Portland, OR

Once merged it came down horizontally, also very slowly, leaving a short tail. To us it was as if the smaller fire dots were missiles shooting at an object and leading it to explode. Witness provides no contact information. PD

September 17, 2014 · 8:30 PM · FIREBALL

Stephens City, VA

My kids and I witnessed three fireballs in various areas of the sky. During the time of my recording, there were two fireballs visible as a plane approached from the south. As the plane neared the objects, they began to disappear. Approximately 15 minutes after we witnessed this unusual event, an aircraft approached from the south and zigzagged east and west with its headlights on at low altitude.

September 17, 2014 · 6:00 AM · FIREBALL

San Jose, CA

At about 6am, before the sun started to come up, I noticed a very bright orange light, like a fireball, traveling a different path from what airplanes usually take over my home. It traveled in a crooked line which made me think it may have been a military aircraft but suddenly the light just hovered in one spot, then retreated so quickly the light almost immediately faded. It actually began fading as I grabbed my phone to record it. While at its brightest, it looked like a beautiful star with spikes.

September 16, 2014 · 8:30 PM · FIREBALL

Eagan, MN

Time: dusk in autumn, mid-September, between 8 and 8:30 PM. Location: Eagan, MN (suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul) Weather conditions: Cool, around 65 degress F, slight breeze, cloudless sky. Stars were beginning to appear in the eastern part of the sky. Description of sighting: Orange in center, darker and hazier near edges, steadily bright but with edges slightly flickering. Would compare the appearance to a candle's flame in the darkness. The light was much, much larger than the lights on the side of a plane as seen from the ground. I am a woman in my late 20s. I regularly walk my dog four times a day, and have lived in this area just over a year, so I am familar with the area and the changes the neighborhood undergoes at various times of day. A large airport is situated in a nearby city, and I have seen many airplanes, but the object in sky did not resemble an airplane. I saw it as I walked around the back of my building, which is located next to a small park. As soon as I saw it, I watched it as I walked for about a minute, and because it was so strange, I ascended a hill in the park to get above the treeline and watched it slowly move southwest for an additional two minutes. My dog was perfectly calm and didn't seem to notice anything different. I had no physical reaction to its presence, other than being a bit surprised, confused, and a little unnerved. At that moment, I could see no planes in the sky and I heard no sounds other than those of nature and the cars driving by. No other people were by me on the path. I was unable to ascertain the actual shape of the craft, seeing only the orange light as a flat circle, so I cannot say if it was spherical or otherwise. I squinted and thought I saw a dim triangular outline around the orange, but when I looked again, it didn't seem to be there. It seemed to be moving slowly directly away from me, only growing slightly smaller in the sky. At this point, I saw the lights of a plane heading toward the airport, and heard the usual airplane noise. I started down the hill toward home, and had my back to the object for one minute. I turned to see if my lower vantage point blocked it from view, and the craft was now moving in the opposite direction, toward the northeast, and it seemed be moving more quickly. At that point I reached my home and headed inside, so I cannot say what happened after that. I have looked up pictures of lanterns and hot air balloons at night, and it looks like it could have been either of those. I doubt hot-air balloons would fly so closely to the airport, though. September 15, 2014 · 6:00 PM · FIREBALL

West Boylston, MA

Three nights ago, we saw this same object pass over our yard, and last night we saw it twice. Description is the same but event details are different. Tonight we saw an orange "fireball" that flickered reddish and looked like an airplane on fire at first. Didn't make any noise. This evening it approached a bit slower than the other nights and then stayed in place for about 2 minutes. It started to move again, about 90 degrees from how it approached but for the first time of the three nights did NOT pass right over our yard. The "fireball" then flickered and went out. None of us has ever seen anything like it. Last night (second event of three) it seemed as if the object had a rotating light emanating from it but it was hard to tell because the whole thing flickers somewhat. We tried to get a video but didn't have enough memory. We'll try again tomorrow because it has come around the same time each (3) event.

September 15, 2014 · 4:00 PM · FIREBALL

Snohomish, WA

It was a sunny day around four o'clock. I was crossing the street to enter my vehicle, when I looked up and saw a hovering fireball about 250 feet in the air. From my perspective, it appeared to be as large as a penny, and simply burned in one spot for about fifteen minutes. It didn't move, or burn out. The color was a reddish orange, like embers in a fire. At that point, I started the car and left. There were no clouds in the sky, the street was empty, and everything was quiet. There was no explanation for what it could be, as directional mathematics would have placed it over the outskirts of town. If the object was not the Sun, we have no idea what it could have been. We have received no other reports of the alleged sighting. PD

Unknown, NJ

My wife and i were driving west on I195 near exit 22 at approx 10:15 pm when what looked tobe a flaming object (torch like) appeared in the night sky crossing an estimated quarter mile in front of us. It was travelling at an incredible rate of speed. (1000+mph?). It was far enough in front of us that i never considered reducing my driving speed, but vanished behind the trees along the highway in a matter of seconds. It was heading on a steep angle toward the ground My wife and I both saw it. Impossible to miss given the brightness and proximity of the object. I expected to hear a crash and/or see a fireball explosion but no sound or visible sight of a crash occurred.

Unknown object appeared to be flying at a very high altitude; too high to observe shape. It was glowing red/orange. We thought that it may be a plane on fire. Only one object observed. Flew by very quickly headed south. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD
