Rosman, NC

Saw 1 bright amber light east of us heading north/north east. It got bright then slowly dimmed out as it started crossing out of view range. Did not blink or anything just steady light except for slowly dimming as it went. about 30 sec. after first light passed a second one exactly the same on same path went by until it also dimmed out as it neared the horizon out of viewing range. Looked to be very high up and to the east of us. Closest similarity in my experience is too seeing missiles flying over around the time they reach a certain altitude and level off etc.

He thought it was a plane but he watched it vanished after I ran to get a pair of binoculars. When I came back it was gone. So we watched again. And another one came across the sky. This time I got the binoculars up on time to see it. It was an egged shaped object. I saw it for about two seconds, long enough to indentify it as that shape. I tried to get my friend over to see it in the binoculars, but by time he made it over, it had flickered out. We both sat there for about 10 minutes, waiting on it to come back, but it never did. I know for a fact what I saw wasn't a plane or helicopter of any thing I've ever seen. I'm not sure what else to say but I'm still in shock. Kitty Hawk, NC

Sitting on the deck at approximately 930 pm, we witnessed two orange/white strobing orbs appear to the south of our position in Kitty Hawk. The first appeared and remained stationary for about 10 minutes. It strobed orange to white and at some times looked red. It eventually move at a slight angle becoming very dim, until it disappeared. Shortly after, the second orb with the same coloration appeared in the same area of the sky. It drifted slightly from East to West, then remained stationary for about 8 minutes. It then rose straight upwards. As it rose a small white orb seemed to drop out of the orange orb. The small white orb disappeared immediately and the orange orb faded until it was completely out of sight. After about 10 minutes, a third orange orb came into view directly to the north of Kitty Hawk, lower on the horizon than the previous two, but strobing orange/ white. It appeared to be moving towards our position, becoming increasingly more visible. Then it began to fade until it was no longer visible.

I was in my room when my nephew screams, "OH ((two words deleted)) (term of endearment used by African Americans) do you believe in aliens? Of course I said "hell no, why?" ((one word deleted)), YOU ABOUT TO BELIEVE TODAY! I believe! He says uncle I am not going to lie to you. I went to the back yard to get on the phone. I looked up and I saw a circle disk in the sky hovering! It was flashing red, blue, yellow, and pink lights on the sides. Then it took off in the night. "Did it make a sound as it took off?" I asked. "HELL NO! IT WAS JUST GONE!" He says, ((one word deleted)) I tell him. I went to the back yard with him. He was very jittery and didn't want to go in the fenced in backyard along side me. I ask him "where did you see this ((word deleted)) again?" He says "it was over by the shed, right above the tree." I ask him to walk along side the shed with me and he agreed. As we walked we heard bumping. And we ran OUR HAPPY ((one word deleted)) IN THE HOUSE! My nephew is the last person to play alien games! You see cause my nephew and I do not get along. And for him to come to me as scared as he was, I believe him.

Looked up and saw a bright neon blue circular flash appear and it sat for 3 seconds, and then zoomed northwest, and then disappeared within seconds of zooming off.

Large red circles (not flashing) and no sound at all. They were pretty close. First two in formation one in front but slightly lower than the other. Flew slowly (no blinking) got to a certain point and just disappeared. Second two came into view and did exactly the same thing. Third set, the same, then a single one, same thing.

It went on at a downward trajectory, then became a gold fiery color and sputtered out. The longest, brightest shooting star type thing I have ever seen. It was amazing. Did any of you out there see it too? WOW!

Garner, NC

Just scene July 17, 2014, at approximately 2205 hours (Military Time), over the area of North Raleigh, near the RDU Airport. Two extremely bright white lights that slowly ascended for approximately THREE minutes, then shot direct up at an impossible speed then disappeared within just a fraction of a second.

July 17, 2014 · 9:15 PM · FIREBALL

Apex, NC

I have a cathedral ceiling in the living room with double windows high up on the wall. I was just sitting on the couch and looked up and saw an orange-red-white fireball passing somewhat slowly by, through the double windows. It was large. It was dark out, so it was hard to tell which direction it was travelling. No noise, no trail left behind. It appeared to be going away from me at a diagonal direction I had to get up and stand back in the room to watch where it was going. After a short time (a minute??) I noticed things that looked like sparks come down only from the bottom of the fireball. At that point I thought it was likely some type of firework or flare. It appeared to disappear behind some trees behind a main road near my house where there is a wooded area. In a few minutes, another similar thing came by and did the exact same trajectory, disappearing behind the trees. I am thinking it's a firework (??). It was travelling fairly slowly though, and generally in a horizontal direction, as if being steered...I think a firework would go straight up vertically (?).

Indian Trail, NC

First and foremost, I don't believe in outer space aliens or UFOs. There is a logical explaination for what I saw. Problem is, I can't explain it so I'm in search of an explanation. Last night, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 around 21:30 I was smoking on my back deck when is saw an aircraft come over the tree line from the north east headed in a southwesterly direction, about 220 degrees. The aircraft was soon followed by a second, a third, forth and finally a fifth. All five aircrafts were traveling in the same direction in a straight line formation and at the same distance apart. What caught my eye was that all 5 aircrafts each admitted one flashing beacon light and all five beacon lights were flashing in unison. Before having children, I spent 5 years working at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. I've spent enough time around airplanes that I can identify them in the sky. Even at night I can recognise the navigation lights on the tail and wings and even see the lights coming from the passenger cabin. I know that the five aircrafts I saw were flying too close to be passenger commercial aircraft so the could have been mitary. Only problem is, even military aircrafts have navigation lights on the wings and tail, these aircrafts didn't have any. The beacon lights flashed very bright as if LED and the intemitance lasted about one second in between flashes. It was dark enough out that when the lights were in between flashes, no objects were visible from the ground. Also, no noise was heard, but we don't normally hear noise from aircrafts traveling at 30,000 feet. But, as stated before, the big thing that caught my eye was the fact that all five aircraft's beacon lights were flashing in unison. To my knowledge, it would be very difficult and time consuming to sincronise call five beacon lights on all five aircrafts. In disbelief at what I was seeing, I stepped inside and pulled my wife out to see these for herself. My wife currently works in the ground control tower at CLT and has nearly 20 years experience in aviation. Even she couldn't explain what we were seeing. She even called our 16 year old daughter outside for a look as well. She was immediately frightened and ran back inside, but she's a nieve child. We sat outside for over 5 minutes watching these flashing lights move across the sky. These aircrafts never changed formation, never changed speed or direction. I know that they were moving too fast and were too low to be stars or satellites, however they seemed to move slower than most commercial aircrafts do at cruising altitude Please help me to identify what I saw.

I just saw 6 lights flying in a straight line high up in the sky directly overhead. I heard a very loud humming sound and it got so loud it was shaking the house. They were in a perfectly straight line moving either in sequence unless it was one object. From the height in the sky I would estimate it was at least a mile or more in length from the front light to the tail.

Matthews, NC

At 9:10PM on July 16th of 2014, a son, his mother, and fiancé sat down to eat a quiet dinner in their suburban home. Approximately five minutes later, his fiancé heard a faint sound and asked what it was. They muted the TV and everyone stopped in their tracks. The two family dogs had their ears perked up and started growling. He went outside and not a moment sooner he came rushing in frantically telling them to come outside. It was reaching dusk and as they went outside in the middle of the street they looked in the sky and instantly brought out their phones to capture a once in a lifetime moment. In the sky, six to eight lights were blinking randomly in a straight line over their street. The lights never moved, staying over the small suburban neighborhood hovering. His mother was quick to point out that whatever was in the sky had blocked the clouds near it. A few seconds later a small airplane was taking flight and was headed in their direction. The plane went under the unidentifiable flying object missing it. At around 9:25PM the object had flown west and never seen after that. The family stayed outside after to try and see if it would come back and to further study the formations of the stars. Three bright stars were in the formation of a large triangle, but later became unidentifiable because of neighboring stars during the night. Whatever it was never came back, but it sure was one scary yet exciting experience.

My friend and I were going on a walk and noticed a strange, bright, light hovering over the area of Lake Norman. The light appeared white in color and extremely bright for the distance it appeared away from us. Upon further examination, the light seemed to be made of four smaller lights clumped together shining bright enough to appear as one. The light hovered in its location for roughly 30 seconds until it moved up about 20 degrees from our PoV and began hovering again. Note, at this point it was thought that the light was a plane due to its movement speed and the way it moved. The object, after hovering for roughly another 30 seconds slowly crept left and then began accelerating to a very fast speed which caused us to run across the road to continue seeing it. We then lost sight of it after it went behind a line of trees that spans roughly 30 feet and then didn't appear from the other side. I would normally be inclined to say this was a helicopter but if the lights were this bright, then it would be much closer and there would be a sound (there was no sound but the bugs at the time). Background: I'm a pretty regular gu,y although I do suffer from pretty intense paranoia and have been told that I may be slightly schizophrenic. My friend is also regular and only suffers from mild anxiety. Other than that, neither of us were under the influence of any drugs or alcohol and were wide awake at the time.

First caught our attention as we driving. 3 to 4 round orange objects, bright glowing, in the sky just above the tree line floating slowly off in the distance. We pull over to see what it was thinking maybe floating lanterns or some other type of glowing device. However they were glowing to bright and began to move off together at the same time in the same direction. Then, more objects appeared afterwards same color and circular and swiftly moved off maybe an additional 3 to 4. Then and additional 2 came out and quickly move off. We tried to follow but could not keep up and the vanished quickly. Duration of the event was short maybe 5 to 10 minutes. We are not sure what we have witnessed have tried our best to logically explain it but have no explanation. Also to note the objects sometimes were a bright white then went to a light orange to to bright orange, no sound was ever emitted.

Walking my dog noticed several objects that looked like stars moving unusually. Stopped to observe with another witness and noticed the objects moving in patterns and eventually raced out of sight. Above city less than a dozen visible stars in the sky at the time. This is what really made me notice the objects. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

I flipped the food on the grill and began talking to a friend and looked up and the light was still there but a more orange color. Object hadn't moved. I continued to observe the light for movement. There was none. Light became more intense and shifted to a red/orange and began to blink/flicker for about 30 seconds then disappeared. I had thought I witnessed a stellar occurrence such as a supernova.

Sighted two lights, 1 red and 1 white that appear to join together then separate at random intervals. Sighted over North Raleigh from Garner on July 5th, 2014 at 2:11am. Have also seen the same lights occasionally the past few nights, at different times. The lights are still currently in sight at 02:15am on July 5th, 2014.

Mooresville, NC

My wife and I were watching the fireworks in our neighborhood. I noticed an orange light in the distance off and on between the houses. Approx 10 minutes later it appeared moving in the sky again, this time my wife noticed it as well. We were in our pool about 15 minutes later and noticed 2 orange lights coming directly towards us and went directly overhead. They were orange, kind of oval to tear drop shaped, one right behind the other (maybe 200- 300 feet behind the other) No other lights, they were not pulsating (not Chinese lanterns) and most importantly NO sound whatsoever. Approx 5 minutes later a third light went directly over us the same as before. After that I saw two more objects off in the distance. That was the last we saw of these objects. I’m new to the area so I’m guessing the came from the Northeast heading to the Southwest, moving quickly but not extremely fast. Visible each time for a minute to a minute and a half before we lost sight of them.

Was in downtown charlotte on the 4th to watch fireworks saw a couple helicopters and you could clearly see and hear that they were helicopters then before any fireworks were shot off a bright orange light that appears close due to the size was moving at a slow pace not dropping or gaining altitude had no noise flying over us was completely silent thought at first it might have been some type of firework on fire floating but wasn't going with the wind and we sat watching it leave trying to prove what it could logically be and we couldn't come up with anything blimp, airplane, helicopter was easily ruled out......just one solid light and even with light of city couldn't see any other structure of it had no marker lights
