We have been seeing this weird object in the sky, for the past 3 days, from 6 pm to around 7 pm. It is a wild flash and when looked through a telescope it is shaped like a round circle. It is also spinning as we look through the telescope. Sighting of Venus?? PD

Portland, OR
Early morning (from approx 12:45am -1:45am intermittently) New Years Day, 2017, I witnessed an unexplainable series of light events, in the sky of NE Portland, Oregon. And then, something on the tarmac of the Portland International Airport. This all began at approx 12:45am. I was standing on the sidewalk with a friend, in a cul de sac on NE 14th Place, near Killingsworth St. There was a set of 2 & 3 story houses and store type buildings immediately to the North of us, and while my friend and I were chatting and wrapping up a social evening for New Years. Notably, it was a very low key night, my friend doesn’t drink, and I’d had just one light beer, well before midnite… So, as we were chatting, and I was about to get into my car and head home, we noticed that a very odd light had been emanating intermittently, in approx 20-30 second sustained pulse outputs, from well behind the buildings to our North…but spraying the sky with light over us. We also noticed a distant “bzzzzzz bzzzzzz bzzzzzz” electrical energy sound that accompanied the sustained light bursts. At first, I didn’t think much of the light flashes. Neither of us did apparently, because we continued talking through the first 2 or 3 of them… Additionally to note: it had been very cold those few days. And I believe that high winds/heavy rains had been in the forecast. I don’t remember the specifics at this time of the forecast that night… But I do recall, that the conditions were that which can lead to the occasional power surge/exploding transformer, because I remember power outages due to the weather of the night, being a concern in general… along with fallen trees and such. My friend who was a former electrical engineer with Intel, years prior to this time, and who was now a leading advisor/consultant on state and federal energy efficiency for government agencies, began to find the situation as odd as I did. We agreed to move ourselves quickly, a few hundred feet, to the end of the street to see if we could catch a better view of these lights, in what would next be, the fifth or sixth 30 second sustained pulse of light and sound… Another odd aspect of this “light show” was that the lights that were constant for the 20-30secs, yet pulsing in intensity, and sometimes “beaming” in a broad spray of faintly focused beams —they were also changing faint colors during the burst, pulsing reds, greens, blues… all of this detail happened faintly, but distinctly enough to be recognizable as separate colors… these bursts and broad beams were also fanning out of the north east direction to our location… from where we were located, and my guessing/calculations of the height of the light and the brightness, combined with my lifelong familiarity of the area… led me to estimate, that if I had to make a guess of the origin point, I would estimate that the light was coming from somewhere between us, and the Portland International Airport. My friend recognizing the lateness and his lesser curiosity to find the source —agreed that the whole event was very odd, but that he was calling it a night. I told him that I was going to investigate this further on my way home… that I would watch the sky, head into the direction that I believed the lights might be originating from, and see what I could find. I didn’t know of any power station between us and the airport, but I was accepting of the idea that possibly there was one, and that maybe they were having some massive power surges at a local power station, and these sustained 20-30 second bursts of light and buzzing sounds of electrical energy, might be coming from something like that. Of course he said to “text” him, if I found anything. By approx. 1:15am, I had driven Northward through NE Portland, watching the sky and seeing nothing further… until I driven approx 4 miles by road (probably less than 2 miles as the crow flies) to a location along the Columbia River, parking myself at a high vantage point at the M. James Gleason Memorial Boat Ramp, which is situated and Western most point of the Portland International Airport… I sat there with my eyes intently scanning the horizon, looking back in the direction of NE Portland from where I’d just come… seeing if the event would occur again, back in that direction, or if it were to occur again, would it now be behind me further to the North? Or what? I texted my friend, told him where I was parked… and that I’d seen nothing yet. If anything changed, I’d let him know in the morning. (He was not a late night guy really, so I wanted to check-in and alleviate any concerns he might have for me, still being out…) Then, at approximately 1:40am —a brilliant green burst of light flashed on what I estimated to be Rocky Butte. Which is basically one of a half dozen elevated hilltop/mounds around the Portland area. These small hills resemble Lava Cones in Central Oregon… They might be big enough to top out 400-600 ft above the average ground level around Portland, and they might host 50-100 homes and acres on them, give or take… My point being, these large ground mounds are elevated enough, that from my vantage point, Rocky Butte was positioned just South Easterly, approx 3-4 miles (as the crow flies) from my location, and I was looking almost directly OVER the Portland Airport, at this new light burst, mid way up Rocky Butte… Now, I’m no expert on exploding transformers, but THIS event, was much more like what I would have expected an exploding transformer to be, as I had seen an alleged transformer explode once or twice in my past, and seen the light in the sky, followed by a power outage… But this was in stark contrast to what we had seen earlier. This particular burst as I said, was bright green. It was a flash of bright light, similar to looking at an arc welder (which I know you shouldn’t look at) but my point is that it had a distinct light source at it’s core that was very bright (like an explosion) and it was strong flash of green light, maybe lasting as much as five seconds…but definitely not longer. This light event did NOT seem extraordinary, BUT, it made me feel like my waiting had paid off, as I had been sitting there almost 30min waiting for SOMETHING to happen… But this felt like a more mundane event, than what we had witnessed earlier. I decided to wait another 5 mins and see what might happen. Then just a few mins later ——— wow. Just wow. I’d like to note here, Portland International Airport is home to an Air National Guard squadron (my father flew F102’s out of that base in the 60’s), and it’s also home to some of the top US Air Force Pararescuemen and Combat Controllers in the country. I had spent a few years working in the special operations community and I had the honor of working with these local guys a little bit over the years, and becoming familiar with the base itself. The next “light event” occurred what I estimated at the time, right outside the hangars of the USANG area… granted I was probably at least a mile away, but what I saw was incredible! A VERY bright green light began to emanate from this point on the base, it got brighter and bigger and sustained itself between approximately 60-75 seconds, an eternity it felt at the time! This light had something of green diamond shape to it’s light formation when it had reached full intensity after about 10-15 seconds… I could not believe my eyes… I was running through rational explanations in my head: “it's not an explosion, because it’s sustaining itself… it’s not some search light…because…I’ve never seen ANYTHING like it, and it’s just emanating light, it’s not searching or moving!” And then, after approx 60-75 seconds… a green beam of light shot straight up into the sky! like a laser… I can’t explain it, beyond associating it to something you see in the movies… after a few seconds of this sustained green laser beam, directed straight up, I don’t know how far… the burst flashed OUT with an intensity that I can’t really desc

Passing by Dexter Lake OR I saw 2 people outside looking up. Over the Dexter power dam on lake. There were 3 orbs; a tiny one was approx. 50' above the lake; the first one was size of a VW bug followed by an erratic moving one, then the tiny one. Slowly heading up the lake towards the Lookout point dam. They continued to move up into the Willamette Natl. Forest in the Cascade foothills, until we could no longer see them. The small ones blinked out at times and were all silent. They were definitely NOT fireworks. SIZE OF VW BEETLE totally round, very bright dark orange red. Dogs were disturbed and barking at them. The largest one was approx. 100' above the water at all times. As we observed it moving west to east , it zoomed closer to us! We freaked out ran inside house! Came out after few seconds it was back over lake moving east until it left our view. No sounds and lasted 20 mins. to 30 mins. I was on a podcast telling about it. Eugene, OR
While outside on New Years eve in Eugene, Oregon, I noticed a reddish light moving slowly in a perfectly straight line at low altitude. It appeared to be fairly close, but there was no sound whatsoever (as would be from a drone). When I got my video camera and zoomed in on it, it was diamond shaped in appearance, and changed color from white to red. It also seemed to have a strange phase in and out quality. After a short time the light simply vanished. In all we saw three, one immediately following the other, in the same exact straight line. There was no elevation variance whatsoever that you would expect from some sort of balloon, and no "drift" pattern.

Bright white light has been spotted about the same place in the sky SW, this is the second time we have seen it in the nights sky. Took pictures this time and went out at 18:22 and light was gone. The sky is clear and can see other stars in the sky, at first looks like a plane coming strait at us but have watched it for about 5 min. and it does not move. It sits pretty low in the sky but I don't think it's in the Earth's atmosphere. Am going to watch it until it goes away next time to see how it leaves. Sighting of Venus. PD

It caught the attention of myself and three kids, age 12 to 15, immediately as it lit up the sky as it flew by at speeds faster than any man made aircraft could do. Possibly a meteor or space junk? Eugene, Oregon. Source of report indicates that the date of the incident is approximate. PD

I was on a friend's front porch, at the extreme Northern edge of Lincoln City, OR, around 9:30 p.m Dec. 25th, 2016. I saw a blue-white light in the distance. It appeared to be a couple of miles or so away. The direction of the light from me was about Northeast. I could see the outer most two stars in the Big Dipper above the light. The other Big Dipper stars were hidden by some fir trees. What caught my attention was the light looked like two lights very close together, then they seemed to be moving right and left very slowly. Also, it seemed much too bright to be a star that low above the horizon. I saw the light for about a minute and then it zipped off extremely fast towards the Pacific Ocean. I was astounded at the speed that this thing moved!

Spotted in the sky from the far north at 8:40 pm pacific standard time on Dec 18, 2016, several witnesses viewed what looked like bright white dots, very high, possibly 30-40 thousand AGL, moving in formation of what appeared to be a “Sickle” or half moon, in unison, at a very high rate of speed from the far North to the far South. No noise at all. Event took approximately 30-45 sec across a clear sky for around 30 miles until disappeared (unobserved) until objects were completely out of sight. The objects were star sized and it was definitely a fleet formation the thing that was apparent was that they moved together flawlessly spaced apart. There was no sharp moves just a straight over flight moving extremely fast. The Picture below is still to much like a V but the flight pater was like a cycle or half moon and moving in unity spaced equally apart. No smoke trails, no noise, blinking light, just white lights about the size of stars flying fast. The sky! was clear.

I was driving east and in my peripheral saw a bright flash to the north. I looked in that direction thinking it was lightning, and I saw that it was light green in color. It seemed to fade and pulse brighter. My next thought was that maybe a vehicle had collided with an electrical transformer (It has been snowing, so there is ice), but I heard no explosion. For about 10 seconds, it pulsed in brightness, until fading entirely.

On December 7th, 2016, I was driving west on Baker Rd. to my boyfriend's house, and noticed an object just to the right of the moon. I lost sight after trees got in my line of view. So, 15 minutes or so later, as I am driving east towards Hwy 97, I couldn't help but notice, THE MOON IN FRONT OF ME AGAIN. In front of me while driving west and now, a few minutes later, it is in front of me again, but this time driving east...........I have to say, this really freaked me out. Thanks for reading! My property sits at 1000 feet on Mt Scott, facing West. Approximately 6:45 we observed a very bright orb emanating colors of green, red, blue, but mostly bright white. The object moved very slowly south-west. From Happy Valley, the object appeared first from the direction of Wilsonville. We observed the object for about 20 minutes as small aircraft in the area apparently saw it as well. The smaller planes over Portland started flying in circles over the area and towards the object. It was far bigger than any landing lights as there is a flight pattern over Portland that goes from South to North. I verified the sighting with a Meade Telescope using a 22mm lens, and binoculars of very high quality. I captured some pictures and video, but quality isn't much to share.

I looked up and there was a lit triangle shape craft flying low and was much larger than a plane. I knew it wasn't a plane because none of the lights were flashing, they were all white and they weren't arranged where lights would usually be on an airplane. Aside from the two lights at the base of what triangle there were two lights at the tip. It somehow got from one side of the sky to the other in maybe a second and then vanished. I was in such aw I didn't have time to grab my phone and I can only hope that someone got it on video.

Looking eastward over the lake/reservoir at Progress Ridge near the Beaverton/Tigard border, two male adult friends and I observed in the distance three radio towers situated in the West Hills that separate downtown Portland from its Western suburbs. It is important to note that the cloud cover was low, but not low enough to obscure any portion of the radio towers in the distance. I'll take this opportunity to say I don't believe what we saw was fireworks exploding within the clouds. In the clouds that appeared to be over the West hills and said radio towers we observed first a massive green light that rotated counter-clockwise. It was orientated as though it was parallel to the ground, and made perhaps only a 90 degree rotation until it disappeared but was replaced (within one second or so) by the exact same shape, only this time in an incredibly quick burst of yellow, then orange, then red colors acting in the same manner. Some 20 seconds later, the exact same reen shape and light occurred again, rotating in the same direction and for roughly the same short amount of time, perhaps a few tenths of a second shorter. Next, only the yellow-colored shape appeared, not the red nor the orange. The object certainly appeared to be concealed precisely within the clouds that were illuminated by the city lights of downtown Portland, but they were absolutely distinct from those city lights. It reminded me of the handheld game "Simon Says" the way the colors changed from one to another, and the nature of the colors was reminiscent of the the taillight of a car, as if there was a membrane containing an inner light-producing object. There were also a larger number of aircrafts in that apparent area of the sky just before the lights occurred. Perhaps this could be explained by the vicinity of PDX airport, but the aircraft seemed to remain in the affected area for a far longer time than one would expect of any aircraft approaching the airport. They also seemed to be physically closer to one another than is seemingly typical for civilian aircrafts. I am no expert in aviation by any means, but it seemed as if they were flying in formation, sort of like you'd see whenever those F16 (or various fighter jets) fly overhead every so often (they didn't sound like fighter jets, I might add.) The object appeared to be massive, but seemed to be deliberately concealed by the cloud cover of the late evening. Finally, I believe it is important to note that my two friends and I instantaneously grabbed one another by the sleeves of our jackets and stepped backwards, and all of us admitted to immediately feeling a sense of fear and dread, like you sometimes experience when in the woods and you feel like an animal or another person is nearby but you can't see them. (I don't say this for dramatic effect, and I don't want to appear sensationalist, I just think it's important to note the immediate sensory reactions we experienced when we saw these lights.) They did not return after their second episodic light show, but the cloud cover over downtown Portland did seem noticeably brighter than before.

First noticed what looked like a bright constellation of stars with ten to twelve objects. We were instantly shocked at what we saw!! It was extremely out of the ordinary. We stopped and got out of our car to try and figure out what it was?? They were close enough that if it were jet planes we should of heard their engines, but we heard nothing. They began accelerating and decelerating at speeds impossible for any known aircraft. Our guess was going from speeds of 200mph to 2,500 mph back to 200 mph in one second. Another smaller formation followed, this time one of the crafts did a quick circles around another at a speed again at a speed impossible for any known man made craft. My wife, my son, and myself witnessed this event. We are life long star watchers and air show attenders, this was unlike any shooting star, any jet, plane, helicopter, laser pointer, or night lights we have ever seen!! It shook all of us up and none of us are shaken up easily. 5 minu! tes later my son went back outside again and saw another craft fly across the entire sky at approximately 3,000 mph!! There is no doubt in any of our minds we witnessed something top secret or something from another planet! No one could convince us otherwise!!

I arrived home from work--17:30 and noticed several moving lights in the sky. There were eight lights moving west to east. I watched for a minute or so, trying to decide what I was seeing, and realized I wasn't hearing any sound like I would from an airplane. I ran to the front door and called for my husband to come and see the lights--he stood on the from porch steps and we both watched the lights move for about 5 minutes. The lights-red with a smaller white light--moving from the west--flew in a random order (seemingly). The lights all moved up and through the same spot in a cloud. We watched waiting for them to come out the other side of the cloud--but nothing. The last of the lights moved faster from the west than the other lights and disappeared through the same hole in the cloud.
