January 1, 2017 · 1:15 AM · FIREBALL

Cody, WY

Saw very bright flash streak above me from south to north, it disappeared before reaching north horizon so i theorize it burned itself out. Currently visiting family in Cody area, was awake because retrieved glass of water in kitchen and amazed by brightness of stars in crisp clear night, so stepped outside onto porch to really take in the beautiful new years night sky. Was outside mere moments before saw the fireball, felt the timing of event was very ironic and remember similar feeling on August 11, around 8:30pm in North Long Beach CA. Decided to report this fireball tonight partially because it feels odd that i experienced these sightings within moments of stepping outside because an urge to see night sky overcomes me. The fireball tonight in Cody, WY, region was large, quick and very very bright.

Placida, FL

Six adults in our fifties, three men, three women, all saw a glowing orange cigar shaped object moving steadily in a straight line, parallel to the ground, from south to north. We were standing on my west facing, second story level lanai. It was level with us, around 100 yards away, 10 to 20 feet long and 5 to 10 feet tall/wide. It was totally silent, and suddenly blinked out/disappeared as it was approaching the north edge of our sight line.

Portland, OR

Early morning (from approx 12:45am -1:45am intermittently) New Years Day, 2017, I witnessed an unexplainable series of light events, in the sky of NE Portland, Oregon. And then, something on the tarmac of the Portland International Airport. This all began at approx 12:45am. I was standing on the sidewalk with a friend, in a cul de sac on NE 14th Place, near Killingsworth St. There was a set of 2 & 3 story houses and store type buildings immediately to the North of us, and while my friend and I were chatting and wrapping up a social evening for New Years. Notably, it was a very low key night, my friend doesn’t drink, and I’d had just one light beer, well before midnite… So, as we were chatting, and I was about to get into my car and head home, we noticed that a very odd light had been emanating intermittently, in approx 20-30 second sustained pulse outputs, from well behind the buildings to our North…but spraying the sky with light over us. We also noticed a distant “bzzzzzz bzzzzzz bzzzzzz” electrical energy sound that accompanied the sustained light bursts. At first, I didn’t think much of the light flashes. Neither of us did apparently, because we continued talking through the first 2 or 3 of them… Additionally to note: it had been very cold those few days. And I believe that high winds/heavy rains had been in the forecast. I don’t remember the specifics at this time of the forecast that night… But I do recall, that the conditions were that which can lead to the occasional power surge/exploding transformer, because I remember power outages due to the weather of the night, being a concern in general… along with fallen trees and such. My friend who was a former electrical engineer with Intel, years prior to this time, and who was now a leading advisor/consultant on state and federal energy efficiency for government agencies, began to find the situation as odd as I did. We agreed to move ourselves quickly, a few hundred feet, to the end of the street to see if we could catch a better view of these lights, in what would next be, the fifth or sixth 30 second sustained pulse of light and sound… Another odd aspect of this “light show” was that the lights that were constant for the 20-30secs, yet pulsing in intensity, and sometimes “beaming” in a broad spray of faintly focused beams —they were also changing faint colors during the burst, pulsing reds, greens, blues… all of this detail happened faintly, but distinctly enough to be recognizable as separate colors… these bursts and broad beams were also fanning out of the north east direction to our location… from where we were located, and my guessing/calculations of the height of the light and the brightness, combined with my lifelong familiarity of the area… led me to estimate, that if I had to make a guess of the origin point, I would estimate that the light was coming from somewhere between us, and the Portland International Airport. My friend recognizing the lateness and his lesser curiosity to find the source —agreed that the whole event was very odd, but that he was calling it a night. I told him that I was going to investigate this further on my way home… that I would watch the sky, head into the direction that I believed the lights might be originating from, and see what I could find. I didn’t know of any power station between us and the airport, but I was accepting of the idea that possibly there was one, and that maybe they were having some massive power surges at a local power station, and these sustained 20-30 second bursts of light and buzzing sounds of electrical energy, might be coming from something like that. Of course he said to “text” him, if I found anything. By approx. 1:15am, I had driven Northward through NE Portland, watching the sky and seeing nothing further… until I driven approx 4 miles by road (probably less than 2 miles as the crow flies) to a location along the Columbia River, parking myself at a high vantage point at the M. James Gleason Memorial Boat Ramp, which is situated and Western most point of the Portland International Airport… I sat there with my eyes intently scanning the horizon, looking back in the direction of NE Portland from where I’d just come… seeing if the event would occur again, back in that direction, or if it were to occur again, would it now be behind me further to the North? Or what? I texted my friend, told him where I was parked… and that I’d seen nothing yet. If anything changed, I’d let him know in the morning. (He was not a late night guy really, so I wanted to check-in and alleviate any concerns he might have for me, still being out…) Then, at approximately 1:40am —a brilliant green burst of light flashed on what I estimated to be Rocky Butte. Which is basically one of a half dozen elevated hilltop/mounds around the Portland area. These small hills resemble Lava Cones in Central Oregon… They might be big enough to top out 400-600 ft above the average ground level around Portland, and they might host 50-100 homes and acres on them, give or take… My point being, these large ground mounds are elevated enough, that from my vantage point, Rocky Butte was positioned just South Easterly, approx 3-4 miles (as the crow flies) from my location, and I was looking almost directly OVER the Portland Airport, at this new light burst, mid way up Rocky Butte… Now, I’m no expert on exploding transformers, but THIS event, was much more like what I would have expected an exploding transformer to be, as I had seen an alleged transformer explode once or twice in my past, and seen the light in the sky, followed by a power outage… But this was in stark contrast to what we had seen earlier. This particular burst as I said, was bright green. It was a flash of bright light, similar to looking at an arc welder (which I know you shouldn’t look at) but my point is that it had a distinct light source at it’s core that was very bright (like an explosion) and it was strong flash of green light, maybe lasting as much as five seconds…but definitely not longer. This light event did NOT seem extraordinary, BUT, it made me feel like my waiting had paid off, as I had been sitting there almost 30min waiting for SOMETHING to happen… But this felt like a more mundane event, than what we had witnessed earlier. I decided to wait another 5 mins and see what might happen. Then just a few mins later ——— wow. Just wow. I’d like to note here, Portland International Airport is home to an Air National Guard squadron (my father flew F102’s out of that base in the 60’s), and it’s also home to some of the top US Air Force Pararescuemen and Combat Controllers in the country. I had spent a few years working in the special operations community and I had the honor of working with these local guys a little bit over the years, and becoming familiar with the base itself. The next “light event” occurred what I estimated at the time, right outside the hangars of the USANG area… granted I was probably at least a mile away, but what I saw was incredible! A VERY bright green light began to emanate from this point on the base, it got brighter and bigger and sustained itself between approximately 60-75 seconds, an eternity it felt at the time! This light had something of green diamond shape to it’s light formation when it had reached full intensity after about 10-15 seconds… I could not believe my eyes… I was running through rational explanations in my head: “it's not an explosion, because it’s sustaining itself… it’s not some search light…because…I’ve never seen ANYTHING like it, and it’s just emanating light, it’s not searching or moving!” And then, after approx 60-75 seconds… a green beam of light shot straight up into the sky! like a laser… I can’t explain it, beyond associating it to something you see in the movies… after a few seconds of this sustained green laser beam, directed straight up, I don’t know how far… the burst flashed OUT with an intensity that I can’t really desc

San Antonio, TX

The object hovered over our street originating from the south. It flew in a quarter circle pattern over the convent property across from us as it dimmed its light and dissapeared. Two identical objects followed after the first object in the same pattern at the same speed and dissapeared at the exact same spot as the first. The only conclusion I can come to, what ever they were, they must have been drawn by the fireworks. They appeared to have been observing them as they hovered over our street at a very low altitude. I never saw an aircraft, nor did I hear an engine sound or propeller sounds and it made no contrail as it flew by. I only saw three separate individual orange redish lights in the sky. And the weather conditions for 01/01/2017 at 12:58am central time in San Antonio TX is, Weather conditions were clear Temperature 48 degrees farenheight Dew point was 46 degrees Humidity was 94% Barometric pressure was 29.83 Wind speed was 0 mph from the north. Precipitation was 0 inches And visibility was 10 miles. We spoke via telephone with the source of the report, and he sounded to us to be quite serious-minded. We suspect that he is a very capable and reliable witness. PD

As I was watching fireworks last night I saw a bright red orb light fly then hover in the sky last night. At a distance it looked like a plane or helicopter. There are many planes as we are in the flight path of Mesa Gateway Airport. It flew from a far distance from the south then stopped and hovered above me. It was a bright red silent light and I could not see behind the light. It was hovering so close I went in to get my high powered flashlight to shine it to see what it was. Before I could shine, it took off west to the night sky almost as it had predicted I had a light. I presumed or was a drone but when it flew off it was much too high, too fast and flew too far away to be a home drone. An hour later I could hear fighter jets to the norteast. We also have plenty of them fly over so the sound is familiar.

I know it's late reporting this, it was around 12:19 am 01/01/2017 I was in my back yard letting my dog out, when I looked up at a red and white object moving slow towards the east, their was no noise and it kept changing colors from white to red, I know it wasn't an air plane because their were no running lights that you see on air crafts, I have a video of it, I have shown my friends this video, and they say it doesn't look like a plane.

went out on new years eve to look at the fireworks and noticed a orange ball of light change direction in the north sky from east to west very quickly then stopped and hoovered the light had no noise. It hovered for about 5 to 10 minutes, then stared to slowly move from west to east then disappeared, went back out 5 mins later and to scan the sky for it and did not see it, it could not of been a plane or a star or a Chinese lantern. January 1, 2017 · 12:10 AM · FORMATION

Anchorage, AK

From the viewpoint of the north end of Muldoon area near the Glenn Hwy, at 10 minutes after midnight (Happy New year's, guys!) we saw 5 or 6 clusters of what looked like small orange steady lights, 3 to a group, each group of three kept a perfectly tight triangle pattern/formation. They came up from the south at a medium speed, too slow for a firework rockets or flares, but faster than most airplanes. They slowed to a stop still in formation & still due south, hard to guess the distance being dark, but my guess would be about 500-800'in altitude & maybe 5-8 miles due south from us. The groups of three seemed to keep perfectly together within each group as if there was one object with three lights each but the different groups of three would vary slightly in position relative to the other groups. Once they stopped they were still moving slightly around but staying in the same rough area. There were no flashing lights but the Orange balls seemed to slightly pulse with a subtle color shift from almost yellow to deep reddish orange. After watching for 2-3 minutes, I ran inside to grab my camera but when I got back less than a minute later, they were gone or moved too low to see due to a 2 story apartment blocking my view. At first I thought they were part of the neighborhood fireworks, but after watching, it was clear that they weren't. We were joking about the fact that they SEEMED to act like they came in close to watch the midnight fireworks show, then left when the fireworks were thinning to a close. Also, they made no sound that could be heard. That could have been because of the distance and/or the fireworks' noise. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. Jacksonville, FL

Sighting date/time: January 1, 2017, at approximately 12:07AM Objects: Orange-red lights/spheres Location: Mandarin area of Jacksonville, FL. Conditions: Clear evening sky with some cloud formations visible. Total time frame of event: 2-3 minutes Observers: Two women (65 and 32 years of age) At approximately 12:07AM, January 1, 2017, a total of 5 bright orange-red spheres were spotted between 60-70 deg. from the horizon, traveling in a Westerly direction. Spheres were situated lower in the sky than a plane would fly and no contrails were seen. Sequence of events: Three spheres initially spotted from an open window moving slowly with no sound in an evenly-spaced zigzag pattern, then hovered momentarily as a fourth sphere joined them. * * * * From a driveway view, I saw the spheres shift into square formation for approximately 15-20 seconds ... * * * * until a larger, brighter sphere entered the area from East at a faster rate of speed than the previous spheres. The smaller lights then broke the square formation into a line and began traveling NW with the larger sphere at the rear until they were out of sight.

Was driving home with girlfriend and I noticed 3 different, reddish lights. They were moving in an irregularly shaped, triangle pattern. I noticed that they weren't incredibly too far off in the distance, but couldn't make out anything more that reddish blurs, moving at a constant speed. Now I live close to BWI so I see planes come and go all the time. These were not airplanes or balloons, we can assure you. They were headed west, fairly slowly, until the lights just sort of faded out. Very strange. I even considered it being a new Christmas toy someone received, like a drone. Nope. Not three of them so far apart, moving at the same speed, so high up. Strange. Why my background is important, I don't know. I'm not on meds nor should I be. I'm not senile or blind.

Balls of fire went from a spot on the horizon and came up into the sky in a straight line. One after another, a small gap between a couple of times. Four in the sky in a line at once. Went to a specific point in the sky and then disappeared one after the other. Fireworks were going off and that was what we were watching. After the started this event started to happen and coninued several minutes after the end of the fireworks.

Anchorage, AK

Three hours after witnessing one large, bright, orange orb travelling south-westerly over mid-town Anchorage, I sighted upon three identical orbs a few miles (in my estimation) above the ted stevens international airport property. These were moving around in separate, oblong paths at casual speeds, with sometimes one or another momentarily breaking away from its path to perform a zig-zag or to move somewhat farther afield, and every few minutes all of them slowly dimming and returning to full brightness. After about 20 minutes of watching they simultaneously dimmed out for good as a routine aircraft was making its approach from the Chugach Mountains. High in the north western skys of Wasilla, Alaska, I observed an object that glowed a red color and was moving faster by my judgement than any know aircraft. I am quite certain it was NOT a firework, or known civilian aircraft. It remained stationary about 2-3 minutes, and later moved towards the horizon out of sight. I did not get a video, however, a co-worker in a different part of the city witnessed the same thing, and did make a video of it.

North Port, FL

December 31, 2016, starting at 11:33 pm until 11:39 pm. Observed first, a single brilliant, orange red sphere, then approximately 2 minutes later, 2 more of the same spheres flying side by side, following the same path as the first sphere. They were initially spotted from the south east near Punta Gorda, Florida, heading northwest over North Port Florida. The speed was very fast and silent. No visible vapor trails. Sky was clear with little street light interference. The first sphere flew a direct, horizontal path then suddenly disappeared near the north border of North Port. There were no clouds to camouflage the light. Sphere was large enough and bright enough to be seen at a far greater distance than the point at which it disappeared. The 2 spheres that followed, initially flew the same fast and straight horizontal paths, then suddenly started a rapid, narrow, zigzag, pattern, which lasted a few seconds. They then resumed their direct high speed horizontal path and disappeared in the same spot the first sphere did. My tablet would not take helpful photos.
