Probable conventional

Unknown over Brownstown Charter Township, MI

A conventional explanation is favored by the record but was never formally confirmed.

The report, as filed

I took my dog out to potty before bed. Very clear evening, I noticed right away a very bright what I thought was an aircraft. As looked closer I saw that the object/ light was not moving. I went into the house and got my iPhone and recorded it for about a minute and a half. I watched it for at least 10 minutes and it never moved. The object was pulsating and emitting quickly changing colored lights. I zoomed in and it appeared that the object was changing shape from round to multi lobed. [NUFORC annotation: Planet/Star - Probable]

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #179724). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
