As reported

Unknown over PLEASANT HILL, CA

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

While walking dog for nightly constitutional was headed home looked up and observed a very bright white broken double line moving at an extremely high speed from west to east in the sky. If not for the illumination I would say the object resembled a con trail from a jet aircraft. In the time it took me to enter the house scream at my wife to come look at it and go back outside it was already reaching the east horizon line. The object must have been very large aand it was at about 20 to 30 thousand feet in the air about the same height as as normal flight pattern for commercial aircraft. No engine noise or sonic boom was heard. Never seen anything fly that fast and it was gone before i could even get my phone to try to photograph it. The speed had to be incredible due to the distance that was covered in such a short period of time. Quite exciting only wish I could have got a photo for you. Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #176241). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
