As reported

Circle over Kirkland, AZ

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Seated at our campfire facing the western sky, suddenly a ring of light appeared only a few hundred feet in the night sky and only ~1/2-mile away. The white-orange ring of light flickered and moved left to the right, and then a second, and then a third ring of light appeared all simultaneously. A few minutes passed, then the sequence repeated, with first one, then three rings of light which seemed to hover for a moment, then disappeared and reappeared a short time later, just a short distance to the right of its original source. NUFORC: Video appears to be flares

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #174188). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
