Cylinder over North Topsail Beach, NC

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

The vertical object was plainly visible yet my phone was unable to pick it up. It was difficult to judge the distance, it appeared to be moving down and away from me, I say away because it became smaller and smaller. It was so shocking to see because it was so visible and bright, no clouds or anything obscuring my line of sight. My first thought was it is moving down towards the ocean but then realized as it got smaller that it was moving east, away from me. The light had a white look and were in an organized dotted pattern. My first thought was of an LED type glow.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #171696). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

I was walking inside and saw two white orbs that appeared to be separating from one another. They both eventually disappeared. There was this weird white mist that looked like clouds. I have video and picture footage. Orbs disappeared and mist remained. The color white looked illuminated while the other clouds got darker with the sunset.

Saw a light in the sky moving at a high rate of speed. It changed direction at tight angles and accelerated faster than any known aircraft could. I would have written it off as a reflection but it appeared to have been followed by a military plane. The object disappeared, at least from my view, quickly and was accelerating much faster than the military aircraft.

Lights appeared in the sky off the coast of Topsail Beach. They were reddish in color. They would appear every 10 minutes or so (irregularly) in varying directions along the coast. Sometimes they were single points, sometimes they appeared as two closely adjacent points of light. They are stationary, last for a few moments, then fade. The lights appeared one at a time usually, but the final event witnessed involved four lights appearing simultaneously in different directions off the coast. During this last event, two were single lights, two were doublets. This appears to be a similar phenomenon to that reported here’s: https://www.wbtv.com/2018/12/04/ufo-strange-video-lights-capture-off-north-carolina-coast/ They did not behave or look light flares. It should be noted that this location is very near to Camp Legeune.
