Triangle over Preston, MN
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
There were three lights outlining a triangle shape. It was dark and the outline of the triangle shape was barely visible. I thought it may be three stars but the configuration was too symmetrical and seeing the faint outline of the overall craft. One of the lights was much brighter than the other two which overpowered the stars in the background. The craft was barely moving and hovered in place. I checked a star chart on a phone app to see if there was a bright star or planet where I was looking, but the brightest object where the craft was located only had a brightness magnitude of 2. I took a video with my phone and only the main bright light showed even after attempting to upscale the brightness to reveal celestial objects in the background. I also attempted to videotape the brightest stars I could see in the sky in a separate video to see if the phone would pick them up, to no avail. In the video the light appears larger and then smaller, this is due to zooming in, it was not noticeable if the craft was moving vertically.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #168562). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
