Cigar over Carbondale, CO
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
I reported this a few months ago (see earlier report) but didn't upload the pictures. By enlarging each image I'm still intrigued and baffled what it is. What do you think it is? My two older sons initially thought it was manipulated but they realize that I certainly couldn't do it with my lack of computer skills.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #171856). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

I was looking up into the sky to watch the meteor shower in a small mountain town with very little light pollution. I was in the backyard of my townhome and my girlfriend had just gone to bed. I noticed 3 lights in a straight line with 1-2 lights flanking each side of it, almost resembling a complete arrow or half of an arrow. It was hard to count all the lights to truly put a concrete number on it, but there were at least 4, but likely 5. The weirdest part is that the area between the lights looked blurry. It was not a solid object, at least what I could see. It looked blurry, as if you were looking at blacktop asphalt in the distance on a super hot and sunny day. I was able to watch it for about 7 seconds before it passed far enough to fall behind roof of the home next door and out of my line of sight. Over the course of those 7 seconds, I blinked several times - to ensure I was actually seeing what I was seeing. It, whatever it was, was not high enough to blend within the stars or where you would see a satellite - it was closer than that. Maybe just beyond where you’d imagine to see a cloud. I’ve seen starlink before and this was not it. It was not nearly as long and there were lights flanking alongside of the line. This was also not a plane. The lights were not blinking - they were constant. With how far they were spread out, the plane would have had to have been either the biggest plane beyond our imagination or far closer to the earth than this was. Close enough to be able to ID it as a plane and even hear it. There could very well be a rational explanation for it - maybe it was drone(s), but it was a lot higher than any drone I’ve personally seen.

While taking pictures of the lunar eclipse almost full, I was looking through the viewfinder and noticed a greenish color come into the picture. Not knowing what it was, I already had my thumb on the cable release so I took pictures (5 in all) as it raced from left straight toward the top part of the moon, seemingly going behind it and exiting the right side of the moon across the dark space and out of sight. The object was long (looking like a thin cigar) and a vivid green color. At the left end of it was a very white piece that looked like it may be propelling it (since that looked white hot and fuzzy compared to the green object which looks really solid). This white piece is shown on 3 of the photos, smaller, and on the other end as it exits the moon. To make things more interesting on at least 2 of the images shows a golden thing that looks somewhat like a throne facing you. This gold thing is a bit fuzzy compared to the green thing but it looks the same on photos on the left side of the moon as it does on the right side. The image I really like is after the object has left the moon and away from it, the white light and gold thing were gone and all you can see is the vivid green object stand out with the black sky behind, my photograph looks like it is stopped midair but I'm sure it was going very fast since this whole siting lasted only about 5 seconds. The photos are amazing with all the color of the eclipse and the color of the craft, great sharpness and detail, which I can zoom in quite close. Looking close at the long green thing it appears to be very solid, slightly twisted and somewhat bumpy in parts. I also have to think this is a very large object since it is fairly large compared to the moon (about 1/5 of its size), my focus was on the moon and beyond, and both the moon and object are in focus. Also, there was no trail visible as the object flew by fast. I haven't shown any of the photos to anyone except my family and may download them to you later if you are interested, I just want to know how I can secure my copyrights to the images.

I am 32 years old professional engineer with almost 10 years expirence in civil development and have an environmental engineering degree from CU. It was sunset and we were walking to the east on Main St. toward downtown to join the First Friday festivities when I saw a flicker of bright white light in the sky. The sky was a beautiful red and orange from the sun set with some scattered showers and isolated thunder storms around the valley. I figured it was a condor/buzzard reflecting the sun of its wings which I have seen before when the large birds in the area circle up a thermal. The object then did a circle or moved back and forth flashing or reflecting the light of the sunset again and again. I thought maybe it was a drone with bright lights flying just over the town but the rhythm of the flashes wasn’t like anything I’ve ever seen. It circled again and I realized it was much further away and moving much faster as it was passing in and out of a isolated ! downpour miles away. It was zipping and swooping in circles in and out of the rain streaks you can see coming down from the clouds throwing reflective burst of light at us as the sunlight caught it. I told my friend to look up as a said “look a ufo”. He saw it do one more circle with the brightest flash of what appeared to be a chrome object reflecting light from the sun like if some body was trying to signal us with a giant mirror. Except it was was above the mountains and in the clouds. The object stopped and held still as if it knew I saw it and it was caught in the act. At this point my buddy, his girlfriend, my girlfriend and one more buddy were all looking at it. We could see just a dot that was darker then the surrounding thin clouds. It sat still for what felt like 20-30 seconds and then just disappeared. It didn’t zip off. It just blinked out of existences or this dimension. Moments later about a block away we were explaining what we saw to a friend and he said ! he saw it too.
