What would the paper say?
UK sighting reports were handled by the MoD's UFO desk until 2009; later records answer to the Freedom of Information Act 2000, earlier files sit at the National Archives. A red/orange light passed over head. Looked like a gaseous, golfball with a red rotating light, rotating clockwise inside it.

A group of lights in a cluster. More lights gradually joined them. Several lights were moving across the sky. More lights joined them and both sets then disappeared.
