Probable conventional

Cigar over Worcester (18 miles SE of), MA

A conventional explanation is favored by the record but was never formally confirmed.

The report, as filed

I saw a streak of lights all separate from one another, almost like stars really close to earth. The lights lingered for over a minute before they disappeared at once. If I held my fingers up, the trail was approx. 2-3 inches long. I am not 100% sure that there was an aircraft present, as it was dark out. [NUFORC annotation: Starlink - Probable]

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #165703). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
