Other over Milford, ME

Resolved to a known cause by an investigating body, with the identification on the record.

The report, as filed

I stepped outside of my home,I looked up and in the south eastern part of the sky I saw a long line of lights. I asked my wife to come out to see it. She too agreed it was an unusual line. 15-20 lights, following each other. It lasted about 30 seconds. I tried to capture a picture with my cell phone, but it didn't work. Although we live close to the airport, this was not an air craft. The line seemed to be moving in a north eastern direction. If you look at a map of Maine,it appeared the line was going from Bangor Maine towards Bar Harbor Maine. Best way I can describe it. The best thing I can compare the lights to are the flares that leave the back of a fighter jet trying to avoid a missle. This lasted for about 20-30 seconds and disappeared with no noise,no flash nothing at all [NUFORC annotation: Starlink - Certain]

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #165640). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
