Other over Bishopville, SC

Resolved to a known cause by an investigating body, with the identification on the record.

The report, as filed

I was driving down the road and looked up and there was a long line of lights underneath a star. It looked like 100 stars in a perfectly straight line and it just sat there. I thought it was maybe a plane or the streak from a plane that had come through or something like that but it was all lights. Then all of a sudden after about a minute it’s slowly starts disappearing from one end to the other. Like all the bulbs were going out or it turned or backed up and was flying away or something. I have video footage. [NUFORC annotation: Starlink - Certain]

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #165647). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
