Triangle over Saint John, IN

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

My friend and I were walking our nightly speed walks. It was windy and very dark. We were talking and this object kept getting lower. It seemed very large, but we couldn’t make out exact details. It was not a plane. It had three main lights. One was blinking. We have very unclear video of it. The UFO hovered for a few seconds then moved. It moved rather slowly, but it was very low. It was quiet and nothing like we had ever heard. The best way to describe it is picture a slow boat like a pontoon. If the boat was turned on out of the water underneath an awning. But it was muffled and very deep in sound, but very quiet. It was not the wind. You cannot hear the sound in our video. I believe it had almost like a tubular rocket “nose, part,” but the shape was kind of a triangle. My friend and I paused our conversation. I said “I’m sorry, but what is that? I thought it was a plane, but...” she cut me off to agree and said “I have been wondering the same thing. Why is it hovering? Why is it so low? Why does it sound like that?” These were all questions I had so I knew I wasn’t imagining things. I apologize for not having more details. My friend and I didn’t know what to do. Our phones didn’t capture what we were seeing. We were so shocked we didn’t know what to do. We should have written our thoughts down at the moment.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #160666). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
