Cylinder over Spencerville, KS
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
The sky had been clear in this rural area, and the man and his son were walking to the barn when his son saw the object first and asked him what it was. It was at about a 40-degree angle up. He pointed at it and they both stood and watched it for 2-3 minutes. When the man then looked down at his son to tell him he didn't know what it was, then back up, the object was gone. The object had been high in the sky, somewhere between 5-10,000 feet, range 1-2 miles, and was stationary. It appeared to be 20-40 feet long, possibly longer, cylinder/cigar-shaped, clearly outlined and silver/chrome reflective.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #162463). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
