Triangle over Ilkeston, DERBYSHI · United Kingdom
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
I was up late, doing college course work and was interrupted by the sound of a helicopter and large military plane circling around the vicinity of my house and near by. This struck me as odd due to the time which was around 1:50am, and because they were doing circles repeatedly. They flew directly over my house again and again, which was quite loud. I retrieved my high powered binoculars to track these aircraft. I went to the window facing my back garden and successfully watched and focused in on these aircraft. Shortly after that, approximately 5 minutes later, I saw a triangular craft fly directly over my house. It made no sound, was relatively low compared to the other aircraft and flew slowly. With my binoculars I was able to see several lights, 2 red lights one at the front and one at the back, and a white light at the back. I was able to see an intricate paneling design too. I informed my partner immediately who was in the other room, and we both went outside together to investigate. However, when we went outside the triangular craft wasn't in view, but the military aircraft were still circling for approximately 15 - 20 minutes. It's also important to note that the military do not fly in my area ordinarily, this was an isolated incident.

What would the paper say?
UK sighting reports were handled by the MoD's UFO desk until 2009; later records answer to the Freedom of Information Act 2000, earlier files sit at the National Archives. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
