Flash over Châteauguay (Canada), QC · Canada

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Last night I was outside smoking a cigarette, I usually look up at the stars in the night sky when I smoke. I was looking towards the north and I noticed a white flash of light in the sky, about the size and colour of Venus just after sunset. About 5 seconds later I seen another flash of light in the same spot. I kept looking in the same spot wondering what that flash could have been and trying to see if I could see it again, finally after about 10 minutes it flashed in the same spot again. It flashed about 5 more times about 5 seconds apart but this time the flashes were getting dimmer, as if the object was moving more north towards the St. Lawrence River. I kept looking for about 5 more minutes but I didn’t see anything else. Directly across the river from where I live is the the Montreal Trudeau international airport so I’m used to seeing a lot of airplanes in the sky and I can easily recognize them. What I seen was not an airplane because there were no other colour lights and there was no sound of an airplane and the second and third flashes of lights were in the same exact spot 10 minutes apart.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #156249). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

Canadian military and radar records answer to the Access to Information Act; historic UFO files are held by Library and Archives Canada. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
