Circle over Whitsett, NC

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

I was watching the night sky. Thin, high clouds were racing by against a full moon. Suddenly, the thin ribbons were replaced by thicker, dark clouds. A circle roughly formed, with ribbons of bright blue and silver rippling from the center out to the rim. The disc slowly began to rotate, about as a fast as a radome on an AWACS aircraft. I watched until it suddenly dissolved, then the thin clouds reappeared. I'm a former police officer and US Army veteran. I'm familiar with many types of aircraft including helicopters but I've never seen anything like this.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #148087). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
