Circle over Mt. Prospect, IL

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

While driving west on Dempster Avenue in Mt. Prospect on July 6, 2019, my wife and I spotted a very bright, star-like object in the sky, possibly over Schaumburg, Streamwood or Elgin. It was around 5:30 p.m. so still very light out. We figured it was an airplane catching the sun and reflecting it, but after watching it for about ten or fifteen seconds (during which it did not appear to move), we never saw the object turn and transform into a plane. The object remained a bright white dot until it just disappeared completely from the cloudless sky.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #147394). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
