Fireball over Lothian, MD

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

An explosion that shook houses strongly enough to have things fall from shelves was accompanied by a huge fireball near the sight lines possibly north east of the zip location. Residents of approximately 25 homes experienced this and all homeowners have looked for news report explanations but cannot find any mention of it. Some in the community are fire and police, and their sources do not report anything in their agencies. The entire community was deeply shaken by the explosion and fireball, most certainly by the resolute denial of our collective experience of 25 or so entire families. Posting here just in case.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #144407). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

As being a skywatcher for many hours a night along with my wife we have seen and reported before. August 25 2019 at 11:30 my wife and I were sitting outside in lawn chairs looking up pointing out groups of stars with a high powered astronomy laser towards the east and as my wife pointed out a cluster of stars with the laser and as she pointed to a what we had being viewing as a star for the past 40 minutes, what we thought was a star illuminated a super bright gold flash that lasted about a two seconds. So I used the high powered laser and made two flashes right on its location and within seconds it replied back with two flashes. I followed back with three quick flashes and just like before it replies back with the same amount of flashes. Amazed at what we were witnessing I gave it two quick flashes and two drawn out flashes and after about a second or two it replies with the exact same. This all had taken place over a 5 minute period. Then it slowly dimmed down to the same brightness of the surrounding stars and slowly dropped down to the same level as the stars below its first location. It illuminated bright as before ( which reminded me of little sun ). So after we both witnessed its movements and it’s intelligent replies it sat for about 3 minutes and slowly faded out. This area along the Patuxent River and its swamps is one of the most hot spots I’ve ever lived or witnessed in my life.

Driving with four people in the car on route four, saw large triangle object flying low with lights on each corner trees where in the way for about 10 seconds and then it disappeared. The sky wasn’t quiet dark all the way, and the object was very obvious. After the object disappeared we seen numerous airplanes flying in a grid pattern as if they were looking for it. Happened to fast to be able to capture an image or video. We honestly were all in shock.
