Fireball over Knightdale, NC

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

I was driving down the road in the evening and I saw four stationary fireball yellowish white lights high up in the sky. I also saw a plane driving by. Suddenly, 2 of the balls of light swooped down and the other two began to zigzag. When the fire ball lights moved they produced a tail behind them. It looked sort of like a metiroid. However, unlike a metiroid, the balls of light that swooped down changed direction and then skirted horizontally across the sky. When they were on the other side of the road still high in the sky the lights stopped moving. The tree line covered up the stationary light as I was driving and I did not see anything else. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #136722). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
