Circle over Morehead City, NC

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

My boyfriend and I were sitting on our front porch around 9pm when we noticed an orange, circular light over Morehead City. We live across the Newport River on the water and could see it well over the town. It never moved, but would disappear quickly and reappear in the same spot a minute or two later. This went on for approximately 10 minutes and then it did not reappear. We tried to find a logical reason but there were no clouds in the sky (we could see other stars) and a drone would have been too small for us to see at the distance we were at. Hoping maybe someone else saw this as well.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #135139). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

At approximately 7:12 pm tonight I walked out onto my second floor porch to get some air and saw something I've never seen in my 58 years. My porch faces south. Suddenly, coming from the east, I saw, out of the corner of my eye, a bright yellowish/white small light at about a 40% elevation. But the speed!!! As it went, it seemed to be getting further away slightly and on a very slightly downward trajectory. There seemed to be a few much smaller lights close behind it. Sparks? It made no noise that I could hear. It was visible for 3 seconds but went more than halfway (maybe even 70%) across my field of vision in that time. I literally had to keep moving my head around to the right to keep my eye on it. I know I'm not explaining the speed well but suffice it to say I have never seen anything move like that. No "shooting star". No airplane. Nothing. I was just standing there with my mouth hanging open. At that point I lost sight of it. I waited a few ! minutes to see if there would be more but there weren't. I'm a 58 year old, retired medical assistant. I was the only one present. I just wanted to report this in case others do also.

Me and a friend were meditating on the beach in Morehead City, North Carolina. We decided to lay back and out of nowhere I pointed out two balls of light that were flying over the ocean back and forth sometimes sitting in one place. The way it moved was not what any plane could do. It moved back and forth rapidly and up and down. I've never seen anything like it. It was pretty late at night, probably about 11:00 p.m. and I'm pretty sure it was still there when we left. I haven't thought much of it until I read a story of exciting in North Carolina, so I decided to share mine.

I am a 57 year old retired medical assistant. On 11-05-19...7:06 pm my neighbor (42 year old female) called asking me to go outside to see some strange orange lights in the sky. She said she had never seen anything like it before. I & my stepdaughter, age 17, went outside on my south facing 2nd floor porch. I'd say we were outside by 7:10 pm. At first we didn't see anything. There was the sound of a plane going over but not extremely loud & that soon passed. Approximately 5 min after we went out, my stepdaughter saw first, then I saw, 3 or 4 clear, bright, orange round balls of light in a cluster. They were at around 45° and in the southeast direction. They seemed close, though I'm unable to give any estimate of distance. They suddenly appeared and after no more than 5 seconds had all disappeared again. They seemed to disappear sequentially, not all at once. No sounds at all were heard at this time. I thought possibly flares, but, like I said, there was no ! sound of any planes or helicopters in the sky. And also, these seemed to be not far from me, in a very populated residential area. Why would anyone be dropping flares in such an area? We waited but didn't see any more balls of light. However, about 5 minutes later, we both saw just inside the bottom of a low cloud an oval appearing white light, much larger than the orange lights. It flashed on just once, for a few seconds, that we saw. It was mild with patchy clouds & light breeze that night. Although it has rained earlier in the day, there were no storms or lightning in the area. It made us wonder if the small orange lights could have been dropped from whatever the oval white light represented. I've never seen anything resembling this before.

I saw many objects moving very fast changing direction and vanishing. Some were moving very slowly and none were planes. You can tell the difference. I have never seen anything like it in my life. It was more that the object was a light rather than it had lights. Changing from very bright to vanishing. Eight plus objects. I have a video…
