I am a retired police officer after serving 17 years. I could not explain what I had seen, after being in the navy for 17 years I have observed satellites for years, this was not one.

What would the paper say?
UK sighting reports were handled by the MoD's UFO desk until 2009; later records answer to the Freedom of Information Act 2000, earlier files sit at the National Archives. In my kitchen. I turned to get a drink and saw a green tubular light like a travelling orb about the width of a grapefruit, shoot from the bottom end of my garden towards window, then arced upwards and shot toward sky. My garden was in darkness. The light was not at floor level I would estimate it at 4-5 feet from ground and I saw it travel approximately 14 feet towards kitchen window just before it reached window, it arced upwards.
