Triangle over Ames, IA
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
As my roommate was driving us home at around 2:45 AM I noticed three lights in a triangle in the northern sky. At first I thought the lights were reflections on my window, because there could be no other light source in the area, but then I realized my window was down. I was initially looking outside because there was supposed to be a meteor shower and eclipse that night. It seemed that as soon as I noticed the lights, they disappeared.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #132554). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

There was a light floating in the sky, moving in circles, completely ignoring gravity as if it was non existent. It disappeared, and popped up in the same place. Moved in a circles rapidly and blinked again. In a matter of seconds.

This morning, Wed. 3/4/2020 at around 5:15 AM, over central Iowa, was seen, about 11 white lights, that were seen traveling in a row. Traveling at less than 1/10 of a second apart. Traveling at a heading north east going 3-4 times as fast as the other aircraft (with colored strobes) in the sky at the same time. The white light they put out was the same shade, density and size as average planets. None of them had any aviation strobes at all. And jet aircraft in the sky at the same time could be heard, but these 11 lights all together traveling that close together, that fast and that low, made no noise whatever.

I was driving home after dropping off a friend... as we were hanging out, we were looking at the sky and saw a very weird looking shooting star but thought nothing of it. But as I headed home I noticed a weird light emitting from an object I thought was a flipped car, as I kept driving trying to decide if I should go back and see what it was, I saw that the light still was bright and shining at me as if it was pointing light in all description. So me being curious turned around to check it out, as I did I video taped it to send it to my friend I was hanging out with, joking about seeing as a ufo, but as I was taking the video, I slowed down and realized to my horror it really was moving like a ufo, and as I was stopped there, it started moving towards me and I started going again, on the video you can see that my view was lost momentarily behind a barn, as I gained sight again it was moving somehow instantly much closer to me . Going at the same speed as me! parallel and behind me a little bit. I have video here, I have no idea what to do this is a super scary experience

Saw a V-shaped or triangular-shaped object “gliding” in the sky at 20:30 in Ames. It had a dark body outline with lights (hard to distinguish if the lights were underneath the body or glowing from inside the body if it was translucent). The lights were pretty dim (pinkish-yellowish-peachish) but interestingly, they followed that V-shaped body pattern. There was no noise, which is why I used the term gliding, and it was going at a decent pace. The background was a clear night sky in Iowa with temperatures ~0 degree Celsius.

Clear sky. Bright red light almost directly overhead passed from roughly east to west. Definitely not a plane as I saw many others of those at the same time. Moved quickly but steadily. As it moved away a similar object appeared moving on roughly the same path but was more orange in color. Tracked both objects as they moved westerly when the orange object disappeared from sight. Continued walking my dog for another 20 minutes or so but when I returned home I noted a twinkling red object lower on the western/northwestern horizon. Thinking it might be the object I saw before I ran inside my home and grabbed binoculars. When I focused in on the object it appeared to be a single point of light that was moving extremely rapidly but in a very random, haphazard way within a very confined bit of space. The movements were so rapid that it appeared to produce a 'stream' of light with loops and zigzags, etc. I checked a nearby street lamp and rooflines to be sure it wa! sn't my hands shaking (they weren't). Eventually it moved lower and lower down onto the horizon and lost sight of it. Have never seen or reported something like this before.
