Cigar over West Chicago, IL

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

I was driving on Illinois Route 59 in west Chicago, Illinois. I looked up and saw a silver cigar type craft. The sun hit it and I saw the reflection. I thought it was a united airlines jet, as the color was spot on match. But within a few seconds it just vanished! Blue sky no clouds. The craft was about 6-8000 feet. I watch southwest on final approach from Joliet to Midway airport. 13 years in law enforcement I've never seen a jet just disappear. I'm at a loss for words

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #129617). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
