The report, as filed
I wasn't aware of this website, that's why I've not talked about this until now. My husband is a chef and back then he was working nights, so he got home early in the morning and we would sit out on the street and smoke. That night was no different, all of a sudden we both noticed a bright beam light literally shining down from space, it must've been at least 100 feet across. As it was coming towards us, we realized that we wouldn't have had time to get back inside, so we held each other's hand and covered our eyes in our laps. It was close enough that we could feel the heat and I could see it getting brighter through my eyes. Then all of a sudden it was gone, we were both shivering and dumbfounded, amazed. So the next afternoon (same day), I called UBC's astronomy department to report what I saw, but no one got back to me…I don't know if you can tell me anything, but it seemed to correlate with a woman in Deep Cove seeing something similar around the same time frame. Anyways, thanks for letting me get that off my chest!! Source of report indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate. PD

Ask for the records
What would the paper say?
Canadian military and radar records answer to the Access to Information Act; historic UFO files are held by Library and Archives Canada. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
