Fireball over Hurricane, WV

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

The light then began falling to the ground whilst alternating between blue and red flashing colors. It seemed to fall in a straight path directly towards ground. Five seconds later it rose back into the sky, once again flashing red. It stayed there for several seconds and fell again. Once more it rose into the sky, further away this time. It then began heading south/ south east while still flashing red. It then disappeared. I was in a vehicle in an open parking lot at this time. The sky is very clear tonight, not overcast whatsoever. I have never seen anything like this. My fiancé was also a witness to this as well and has the same account of all details.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #127202). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

Hurricane, WV

My boyfriend and I were sitting in my car in my driveway talking after we came home late one night, around 1:30am. We noticed a light that was bobbing and weaving all around as it came up over the eastern tree line back past my pond, about 200 yards from where we were parked. It proceeded to fly over to where we were parked at and hover in the air almost directly above us, I would have to guess and say it was maybe 100 feet in the air but close enough for us to use binoculars to see the triangle shaped bright white light with 2 red lights, one on each side of the top point. It's probably 4 or 5 feet at its widest point. We could hear a loud buzzing sound the entire time it was present. A few times it shined a beam of light down like it was looking for something. We watched this strange light for hours. I downloaded a sky map and it wasnt showing up on it. We also noticed lots of birds were chirping loudly the whole time it was there too. We continued to watch it until daylight when it started to get higher in the sky until it disappeared. It has came back every night since and we watch it every night. It comes up over the back treeline by my pond and will come so close to us and hover there moving back and forth in the air all night until daybreak then it leaves. We have pictures and videos but not very good quality because they were taken on a phone sitting inside my car.

Hurricane, WV

Date/Time: Monday, January 7, 2019 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Location: Teays Lane, Hurricane, WV. I was outside walking my dog, when she became unusually spooked. I looked due south and noticed a solid green light that, with the glow of the clouds around it, looked to be just under half the size of a full moon in the night sky. It moved north directly overhead and glowed with a kind of high intensity neon green. I have never seen a colored light shine through the clouds so brightly. At the time, the national weather service reported a cloud ceiling of 2,300 feet, and there was very light rain. I have an app called Flight Radar 24. I checked this app, and no aircrafts with a transponder were anywhere within 50 miles of my location. Being familiar with aviation and having flown an aircraft before, I looked for an accompanying red light or even a white strobe light and there were none. The object made no noise at all, and the night was quiet enough to have heard either a propeller or jet engine at high altitude. The intensity of the light did not change, and comparing it with other aircraft that typically fly over, it appeared to have a ground speed of well over 1000 mph. Overall, it took approximately 1 minute to go from the southern horizon to disappear across the northern horizon. These times were documented by a text I sent to my wife immediately before seeing it, and a phone call to my wife when it was disappearing to the north. I tried to take a video with my cell phone but was unable to keep up with the object to even view it in the screen. The path it took was directly over the intersection of route 34 and Interstate 64 in Teays Valley, WV. It traveled in a straight line, made no turns, and did not appear to change altitude. I reported this to WSAZ news who hadn’t received any reports yet.

First thought was an airplane but the Orange color wasn't the same as an aircraft and too low. I yelled for my girlfriend and she witnessed as well. The object stopped than shot straight up. Right after an aircraft flew by and looked like a normal aircraft. This validated what we saw was not a normal aircraft.
