As reported

Unknown over Maple Ridge (Canada), BC · Canada

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Took more pics and watched them disappear exactly the same as the others. I took the pictures using an iPhone 5 s. They look light in photos and streetlight and trees made it harder to get a good picture. Hoping someone else in the area saw them and maybe got a better view. I have never posted or seen anything worth reporting before. Thanks

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #125704). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Canadian military and radar records answer to the Access to Information Act; historic UFO files are held by Library and Archives Canada. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

While watching the eclipse the fireball appeared coming in from the north east as in the path of a plane that is normally seen from our yard. Except that it was a very big bright orange light. No sound. It came closer and closer and then changed direction to the east away from us and then the light flickered a bit and got smaller and then bigger a few times before going out completely. I could still see it as a tiny black dot and followed it until it went down behind some trees.

Around 8:30 pm Wednesdy evening, looking south-southeast, my wife noticed two bright orange objects moving slowly from east to west approximately 1 to 2 miles away from her at an approximate altitude of 2500 feet. She called me to come and see what I could make of it and my two children aged 11 and 14 also came outside to witness the objects. When I arrived outside one of the orange lights had suddenly just disappeared whereas the one remaining orange light slowly moved east and then very slowly faded away. There were several (3) low flying aircraft also in the area during this event (Cessna variety), and at one point my wife stated that the two objects looked like they were attempting to follow the aircraft. I had suggested that the two objects could have been homemade Chinese lanterns, as it is close to the Chinese New Year, but to be honest they did seem to be very strange. Also while out walking with a neighbour today, my wife says that the neighbour saw the same lights, and that she does not think they were "chinese lanterns." Anyhow thought I would post what we saw and see if anyone else had the same experience.

This was just a red light that pulsed. At one point it seemed to hover what might be over Vancouver area. Then it seemed to keep heading west, out to sea. I got out my binoculars to inspect it, to see if I could see any other lights, like maybe those of a plane, the other plane lights being white and red blinking with a constant white are red. There was no other lights and no other shape that I could see through the binoculars, just that red pulsing orb. It was pretty cool. Also, I can hear the sound of the planes as they pass by, overhead, and I couldn't hear any sound attached to this red orb. The other kind of interesting thing, was the size of it. The red light seemed so much bigger than the lights on the airplanes that pass by. The orb itself, was not larger than the airplanes that pass by, just the lights were noticeably different size.
