Fireball over Lakveville, MN

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Our house has large windows facing East and we see planes going in and out of MSP all the time. We also have a medical helicopter that goes over regularly. On Sunday Jan 24, 2016, we were relaxing watching TV, when I noticed an orange ball, low in the sky, coming straight out of the east. I noticed it did not have the signature flashing white lights of a plane or of a helicopter and no red light… just orange an orange glow. I got up and opened our patio door to see if I could hear rotor blades or a jet engine…there was nothing but silence. I then saw a second orange ball trailing the first and just off to the north of the first orange ball. They moved about as fast as a small private jet but had no flashing lights and absolutely no sound. They appeared to be flying just above the cloud deck. I am not a UFO type of person and the way I saw a definite formation to the two objects I would think military? I have been an aviation buff since I was young but this is by far the strangest thing I have ever seen in my life. Absolutely no sound from a jet engine or rotor blades and they were both close enough to me that I should have heard something. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #125440). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
