Unknown over San Jose, CA

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

The first sighting occurred at approximately 10:35 pm on Monday, 12/14/2015. I was driving my car, turning right onto Cropley Ave. from Conifer Ln. in San Jose, CA. As I looked left to make sure there was no oncoming traffic, I noticed quite a bright "star" streaking toward the easterly direction. It lasted less than two seconds, tracing across perhaps a fifth of the sky. My first reaction was that I had seen a meteor. But the object wasdefinitely a small round disc (like a golf ball seen at about 30 feet away). The luminosity was similar to that of an LED light and, although moving rather fast, it did not exhibit a "tail" as the natural light from a meteor would do. As I made the turn and continued to drive, I really didn't think anything more about it. My drive proceeded southwesterly along Cropley to Morrill Ave., turning right on Morrill to get to Landess Ave., where I then turned left. Landess heads roughly westward and turns into Montague Expressway after the Highway 680 overcrossing. I proceded southwestward down Montague, crossing over Highway 880, until I stopped at a red light at either Zanker Rd. or N. 1st St. (I'm not sure which one.) The time was approximately 10:45 pm and it was here that I saw the golf-ball object again while looking up to the left through the windshield at about a 40 to 45 degree angle. Instead of streaking as it did before, it made a sort of randomly "hilly" curve in the sky that lasted about as long as the first sighting. I was rather surprised, however, to see that (in the background sky of the golf-ball object) there were (I believe) eight lights of much lesser intensity than the golf-ball. Each light was (as best I can describe it) shaped kind of like a flattened diamond. The most noticeable feature of these lights, to me, was that they were divided into two rows of four lights each, one row below the other by perhaps 5 to 10 degrees, from my vantage point. Each row's lights were evenly spaced, and the bottom row's lights were aligned directly below the top row's. The lights alternately dimmed and intensified, in unison, with a period of perhaps two to three seconds. As I stared at the configuration, I thought it might be due to an optical artifact of the area's street lights reflecting on my windshield. But I rolled down my window and stuck my head outside to look; they were still there. It also occurred to me that there could be Christmas lights on the top edge of a nearby building. I wouldn't be able to see the building because it was night and the brighter street lights would interfere with any ambient backlighting behind the dark building. However, at the angle and direction I was looking (~ 45 degrees up, southward), no buildings are that tall when one takes into account the distance between my stopped car at the intersection, and any building to the south. Finally, the lights could not lie on a possible power line because both rows were arranged absolutely ruler straight, whereas there would likely be a slight bow in the arrangement if attached to a power line (due to line sag). The whole sighting at the stopped light on Montague probably lasted about 15 to 20 seconds. Just before my traffic light turned green, there were (I believe) three other cars at the intersection: one next to me on the right, one in the opposite direction that was beginning a turn northward onto the cross street, and one waiting on my left on the cross street, at his red light. I looked to see if I could detect any awareness of the unidentified lights by the person on my right, but it was difficult to see the driver inside the car. It seemed as if no one else noticed. The sighting was over when each row of lights split in half, two lights accelerating to the right, two accelerating to the left. The intensity of the lights quickly dimmed to zero as their speed increased, and they never deviated from their ruler straight horizontal paths. For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. I have lived by this airport for years. There is frequent air traffic, but this was different. I wasn't like anything I ever saw before.

Video 1 10/11/23 03:27pm: The video here is a sighting of 1 ship, the other left 2 minutes before (have video too). If you watch this video, at the 10/11 second frame, you will see it cloaking into a bubble. Because it is a sunny day and cold, the destoration shows up in the camera. Throughout the video, you will capture a clear ball, moving erratically. At 21/22 seconds the craft reforms and then recloaks and moves around the video. its best to do a frame per frame view. I make the mention of a plane at the end, but that sound is behind me. Its not a plane. Video captures everything. Video 2 10/11/23 03:25pm: This is the ship that left before video 1 taken. It was 2 minutes earlier, so this one shows a craft at high speed shooting off. Video 3 12/1/23 03/33/pm: The best video, shows detail of one craft, cloaking, moving back and forth erratically, and doing things not capable by us. *** Everything filmed is in the 3pm timeline. Not sure it means anything. Alos best to do a frame by frame analysis is you have the time. It moves so fast, you will miss it. [NUFORC annotation: Aircraft - Possible]

I am speaking for the witness, who is my 9 year old son. He was in the back yard playing with the dog when he observed a black sphere. There was sufficient features that allowed him to identify what appeared to be rotational movement. He was adamant it was not a balloon. It rose straight up and disappeared from sight. Insufficient information to determine a rate of speed or guestimates on initial altitude, or an estimate of size. My son and I are familiar with aircraft and fly regularly. At risk of sounding bias, his observational skills and ability to identify makes models and years of cars way exceeds my own, and though I am a UFO enthusiast and experiencer, he has spent the last four years telling me I am delusional, and so for him to say he wanted to make a report... Well, here we are. He would not entertain balloon, helicopter, or air clutter as an alternative. The precise time isn't known but reasonably between 1900 and 2000 hours. The date is accurate, as his experience occurred after our evening call. We speak daily, remotely. I live in Texas. He observed an aura around the artifact. This is not something I have discussed with him.

White ball first came down at an angle and went behind a stand of tall trees then came back out the same side and accelerated away very fast with no sonic boom. I was above clouds at times so we were thinking it was at around 5000 ft. in elevation. We saw it speed up and disappear in the clouds. No sounds. I asked my coworker how big he thought it was and he said bigger than a car. So I'm guessing as big as a van but round. I said if a plane is going 500 mph do you think it was going 1000 mph? He said faster...

Saw it as I was exiting SB Highway 280 in San Jose at Bird Ave. I was driving and tried to keep an eye on it as it was moving...south east. I wanted to be able to pull over and record it. I did, but my eyes lost sight of it, when my iphone was capturing it. It's not great video and is likely nothing.
