Unknown over Nuevo, CA
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
The object was a blue with a slight green color within an orb of cloud. There were no other clouds in the sky as we had a windy day. After about ten minutes the cloud dissipated and a faint white light, almost looking like a faint star was observed fading off into the west. The star like light had a cloud coming out of it in a narrow conical shape. I have video of the light in a cloud. I could not get a picture or video of the distant light, as it was too far away. The blue light remained for another 15 minutes after the event, slowly dissipating. U. S. Navy missile launch. PD
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #123679). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
