Fireball over Callaway, FL
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
Happened to look up in the sky about one quarter up to see a flickering bright orange red light that seemed to have a slight black smoke trail behind it, moving pretty slow. Then it seemed to stop mid air and slowly start to dim then go out. And the other observers said they still saw a black figure replace the light but I was not able to see it. From the time we saw it and it went "out" was about 40 seconds. It reminded me of a hot air balloon really far away on fire but hovering.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #120990). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
