The report, as filed
I was driving home along a wide, well lit town street. For some reason I looked up to the left and saw a bright, cadmium red, sphere. Its edges weren`t well defined. Its light was luminous red and the sphere`s outer edge was like a red halo. It was hanging still in a black night sky. I stopped the car and got out to check what I was seeing. It was not a plane as it was so still. There was no man made tower or stadium near by and it was higher up in the sky than anything man-made. There was no centre of white or yellow light in the middle, (as in a lantern). It was higher up than any buildings or trees and definitely not a planet (like Mars). Size is difficult to describe. I perceived it as eighth the size of the moon.
