Triangle over Columbus, OH

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

I was letting the dog out around 10:30 p.m. when I looked up into the southwest sky in Columbus, Ohio. Three red beams of light were shining brightly in the shape of a triangle. What was most odd was that the object seemed to hover in the same location (unlike an airplane) for several minutes. At first, I thought the object was shaped like a stealth bomber, except that it appeared white in color. My other thoughts was that the red, glowing objects had white beams of light connecting them together. I ran inside to tell my husband and daughter to come outside to verify what I saw. By the time they got outside, there were only two, red glowing lights connected by a single white beam of light. My daughter saw the bottom one disappear first and then the top one followed suit. My husband also saw the two lights fade away into the sky. During this time, I ran through my house to the backyard to see if they would travel in a typical flight path. However, there were absolutely no signs of the objects. Their disappearance was quite unusual in nature. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #120150). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

After seeing numerous orbs in this area in 2022, this is only the second sighting of them in 2023. I checked my apps like Flight Radar to confirm it was not a plane or weather balloon. I am guessing it was floating above at about 2,500 feet. It stopped momentarily above me, then continued on. I have a bit of footage of it on my iPhone, but i had my dog on a leash pulling me around. I was unable to get in my house in time to grab binoculars, so for this sighting, video is all I have. The orb was identical to other orbs I've been seeing every once in a while. There was absolutely no sound, and there were jetliners to the left of it at a much higher altitude. This orb was glowing and spinning. I wonder in anyone else in North Columbus saw it?

One White object that appeared to change shape as it moved through space. Was up as high as a plane, flying over the 270/315 area. My husband and I both witnessed it. A lot of birds were flying around the area which caused us to step outside, I looked over to the south side of our house and saw it in the air. [NUFORC annotation: Balloon - Probable]

I saw an orb flying fast 3 different days at the same location. Fortunately I could record it the last time but I used my phone to do so. I’m not sure what it was but I felt I should report it. Attached is a screenshot from my video recording.
