My husband and I were traveling south on I-95 and had just passed Perryville. The sun was setting as I woke up saw a strange object in the sky. It was large enough to see from the Havre de Grace bridge. We continued on for 5 minutes in silence as I tried to make out what it was and noticed other drivers looking just as confused as we were in the direction of the object. I finally asked my husband if he saw what I was seeing. He said yes and that he noticed it as far back as the Chesapeake House and it hadn’t moved since. The closer we got to the object the more perplexed we were. This thing was a dark matte black with red marker lights on the corners and hovered about a 1000 feet off the ground. It seemed to be positioned just off shore of Aberdeen Proving Ground. The enormity of the object seemingly floating so low and effortlessly in the sky left us speechless. I am not exaggerating when I say this was roughly the size of a football field. It was a shaped like positioned flat and matte black in color with what looked like red marker lights in the corners. I tried to take a photos/video but nothing would appear in my view finder. We decided to get off the nearest exit to get closer but we still couldn’t come up with a rational explanation for what we were seeing. Once the sun had set it seemed to blend into the night sky. Shortly after we found ourselves at the gates to Aberdeen Proving Ground. Aberdeen PG is known for research and had recently flown 2 observation balloons anchored by ropes for 2 to 3 months over the Dundalk just south of the APG near Essex. This was nothing like that. It never moved and hovered for easily 45 minutes with no signs of anything anchoring this to the ground to make it stay in place. I searched the web for years to see if anyone else witnessed the object in the sky that night but haven’t seen a thing. It was so extraordinary it needs to be documented because if it wasn’t a UFO I’d love to know what it could’ve been. I hope that our experience helps trigger someone’s memory to remember theirs. I haven’t seen anything like it to this day. For something so large to make no sound and just float in the sky was incredible to say the least.
