As reported

Unknown over North Branch, MN

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

My younger sister was in her room and noticed what looked like the lights of an airplane out the window, to the southwest, through a crack in her curtains. Given the small area for her to see the lights, she began to doubt it was from an airplane as they remained stationary, so she and my other sister went outside to see if they could get a better look. There was no sound to be heard, so they decided it wasn’t a helicopter either. As they continued to watch, the lights grew dimmer and disappeared. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #117695). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
