Triangle over Bozeman/Gallatin Gateway (Hyalite Reservoir), MT
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
Went up to Hyalite Reservoir at night to take some Astrophotography. I was taking photos when I saw it show up on my screen after I took the photo. The photo is a long exposure, you can see it streak across the Sky but that's it. The object slowly flew over the reservoir and toward the mountains where it disappeared over the ridge. It had 3 orange/red lights that formed a pointed triangle, with all 3 emitting a slow blinking red light too. My locations was out in the middle of deep mountains of a state park and I've never once seen a plane fly near it. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides little contact information. PD
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #116889). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.
Ask for the records
What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
