Le 4 janvier 2015 à 19h20 un témoin et sa femme observent pendant 5 minutes, depuis leur voiture, trois points lumineux fixes. Les trois points s'éteignent successivement. L'observation de boules oranges-jaunes dans le ciel durant quelques minutes, s'éteignant l'une après l'autre, une nuit de week-end, fait nettement penser à des lanternes thaï, probablement lâchées à proximité à l'occasion des fêtes de début d'année. Les boules semblent immobiles ce qui est compatible avec le vent de Sud très faible (2 à 4 km/h) relevé par la météo à Saint-Brieuc (22). Le GEIPAN classe ce cas "B" observation probable de lanternes thaï. Le GEIPAN n'a pas reçu à ce jour d'autres témoignages en rapport avec cette observation. [GEIPAN classification B — Lanterne thai]
