Fireball over Winter Springs, FL

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Something caught my eye while sitting on the couch. When I looked over I saw a single orange looking fireball with an orange trail taveling fairly quickly going northeast to southeast. Not super fast, but not slow either. It looked like what I would expect a rocket launch might look like but it was traveling across the sky not up from the ground. It also looked to be at a high altitude. It traveled across the sky and disappeared behind clouds after 20 seconds or so.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #116417). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. I was outside of my home and i noticed the streetlights flickering about 100 feet away, then as i was observing the streetlight flickering i happened to look up to star gaze (something i do often) and saw what appeared to be a disc shaped object. The object was almost completely translucent, silent, and moved swiftly. I first noticed the object from about 30 degrees north/north eastern the it moved in a slight curve almost straight south kind of to the west, the only reason i saw the object at all was because in the front of where it was moving there was a smokey kind of mist that outlined its front shape kind of resembling a half moon or crescent, the mist was able to be spotted because the bright moonlight illuminated the mist in front (maybe high altitude ice crystals or air cold air displacement was being reflected by the moonlight). the strange thing was Im in a flight path between the orlando international airport and the sandford international airport, and planes are constantly coming to and fro. when it happened to pass by the sky was almost completely clear of air traffic. As it moved it cleared the whole horizon in about 7 seconds and disappeared into the southern horizon. As it flew over, the street lights got really bright for about a couple seconds as it was directly over then the street lights turned almost purple in color. it was too dark to record video. I feel as it might have been military because the cloaking was imperfect you could still make out the shape in the sky if you looked hard enough, like the cloaking was reflecting the light around it. The object had to be at last 5 football fields in circumference if not a mile. After it passed air traffic resumed about 10- 20 seconds later i started seeing planes again. Friday 11:05 pm winter springs fl. the night before i saw something move from south to north i thought it was plane that might have turned its front lights out because it went dark, then started flickering lights, then disappeared in the night sky about midway above the horizon. around 11 pm

I saw a few strange orange lights outside my window. I live near Orlando International Airport so several planes fly overhead every hour, these lights did not look at all like planes or helicopters. A plane will have a red light on the left wingtip, a green light on the right wingtip, and a strobe light in the center. This was a solid orange light, there were several of them traveling from East to West, and they appeared to be at relatively low altitude. There were also planes in the sky at the time and these lights were drastically different, they sort of looked like flares but were traveling completely horizontally. When one passed particularly close I thought it sounded like a rocket engine but it could have been the sound of a jet passing overhead. A buddy of mine saw them outside his house about 15 minutes later; he lives nearby and also saw the orange lights traveling horizontally East to West. Video: https://youtu.be/n251RhdLho8

Winter Springs, FL

At 8:30 this morning at my house, something caught my eye in the sky to the East. It is difficult to estimate the height and location of the object, but I estimate it was centered over Winter Springs, Florida at a height that was a little higher than you would typically see a helicopter. The object was likely Frisbee shaped, but I believe I was just seeing it from the side which I would describe as Cigar shaped. My first thought was that it was a drone, but it was moving too quickly and effortlessly. It went from the original location to the left and hovered, then to the right and hovered, and then up higher to hover. The changes in location were split second, not gradual changes. The object seemed to be lit up with a white light that covered its entire shape. Based on how white the light was and that it didn’t seem like a glare, my guess is that it was a light coming from the object and not the sun’s reflection. I was able to track the minor movemen! ts for about a minute before the object proceeded East at a speed that disappeared from view within a moment. It is a sunny day here with some clouds in the sky, but no weather conditions can explain what I saw. This is my first time in seeing something like this, and I want to know if anyone else has seen this object in my area.

Was walking the dog - skies are crystal clear blue, looked south toward MCO and saw a flying object glowing and sputtering - red, brilliant orange, then out. No pattern other than the color. No form, no shape. Headed west. Checked the flight tracker, the only thing I saw on the same course was a Cessna, about 2k feet up. This was either way higher or way smaller. Jet engine fire? Satellite falling back to earth slowly - uncontrolled? I've never seen anything like it in my whole life. I've seen aircraft reflect the strong Florida sun before, but this was not only much more brilliant, but stayed brilliant as it moved east to west of me. If it was a reflection, I'd have passed out of it's beam. It reminded me of the flame that the Space Shuttle SRB's emit - brilliant orange, only this wasn't as bright or as constant. Very bright, but sputtering.

Saw a white light moving in the sky. It was really, really high up, like a plane would fly, but we don't normally have planes flying in that direction at night, and usually they are much lower. I saw the light and ran into the house to get my night vision camera and was able to catch a few seconds of it on video. It was moving at a steady pace, and I heard no sound at all. I live in a flight traffic area and ALWAYS hear planes when they go over, there was no sound from this. It was moving from the north to the south. Saw no blinking lights. Even the video doesn't show blinking lights. Thought it might be a satellite or the ISS, but when I went online to find the current positions of all of them nothing matched the location of what I saw over central Florida. The object never changed direction, never changed speed, just kept on a steady course.

I would like to report what may, or may not, have been a UFO sighting. Some time between 9:15pm and 9:30pm, on December 19, 2014, I saw maybe 6 to 8 orange and red lights hovering in one place in the sky. They were approximately over Dike Road and Tuskawilla Road in Winter Springs, Florida, but to be honest I could not tell exactly the location since I was driving. I live near an airport, and I saw some planes fly somewhat close to the lights and thought maybe they would have reported them as well. They were, as I said before, hovering in one place. Their alignment was horizontal, but scattered, as in they did not make a straight line. I wanted to turn around and see them again, but when I went back they were all gone. I am not sure if this matters, but it got very cloudy after the event. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD
