Fireball over Edgewood, NM

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Witnessed round orange/red ball of light moving across sky from West to East. Roughly ~15,000 ft elevation. Flew right over me. Zero sound. Object completely vanished. Could only describe it as a miniaturized sun that was flying in the evening sky. Have a cell phone video, but quality is poor. Object was bright enough for phone video camera to see. Object was FAST. Moved many times faster than air traffic.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #116141). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

I noticed a crescent shaped light at first west of Edgewood NM, then it slowly dissipated. 2 minutes later I saw another light slowly light up in the same crescent shape full bright then slowly dissipate, this time it looked as if there was steam smoke eliminating from it. this happened 4 more times, with the last in the smiths parking lot, I immediately notified 3 people walking in and I told them to look and they saw the same thing, I proceeded towards Albuquerque to see if I can see it closer and it never happened again

Around 10 pm I saw something go hauling a** east of Edgewood, NM, thru the sky. Direction of flight was South to North. Whatever it was was moving much faster than any other aircraft overhead. It didn't have a tail or a streak. I do not believe it was a falling star as it contunued its path direction until out of sight, and showed no evidence of losing altitude.

I lost visual contact, like it could have crashed near Edgewood. Family member in Edgewood home said there was a concussive, window shaking noise at same time I saw this large orb. Dogs all jumped up and started barking. See report from Copperas Cover, TX, at 2010 hrs. (CST) on the same date. PD
