Other over Selma-Coos Bay, OR

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

My son, his friend and I were camping at Spaulding Pond in Josephine County on 7-31-14. High in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness area off of Hwy 199, near Selma Oregon. We were camping and had been hearing quite a few jets and jet engines flying fairly low over the mountains. We had been watching the stars and the sky due to all the jet noise. We were pointing out airplanes as we saw them, when a large orange glowing light appeared over the mountains toward the coast. It appeared stationary. It expanded and contracted a couple times and disappeared after a few seconds (maybe 5 or so). It looked to be over in the Coos Bay area from our mountain top view.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #112312). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
